I have been happily hanging out here on Nameberry for a couple of years now (3 years in August) and I’ve never made a topic in the Boy category. I’m an elderberry with a son in his late teens; names are my hobby, I’m not looking to name anyone (plants occasionally, but not people)
So I was wanting to fill my boy name topic creation gap and I’ve been thinking about smoosh names for boys for…well years, but a lot more recently. Does anyone know any/have you invented any good ones? I had a try recently and the best I came up with was Rosskai (yep, Ross + Kai). I actually really love Rosskai! Smoosh names are hard, it seems they can sound or look good, but not both!
I’d love to see the smooshes that the Berries know/can invent!
I’m glad you like wrennox & remidore! You came up with such good ones! I especially like alexavier It sounds instantly name like and so handsome.
Casidore also feels like it has so much potential.
Some that I can think that exist already: [name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m], [name_m]Gianluca[/name_m], [name_m]Jareth[/name_m], [name_m]Thorfinn[/name_m], Torbjorn/Torben
Some ideas… (I haven’t really thought about meaning etc here - just what might sound cool!)
Leodore (Leo and Theodore)
[name_m]Ethaniel[/name_m] (Ethan and Nathaniel)
Jaspian (Jasper and Caspian)
[name_m]Samwell[/name_m] (Samuel and Maxwell)
Archwin (Archer/Archibald and Edwin/Ashwin)
[name_m]Rubert[/name_m] (Rufus and Albert)
Roxander/Rocksander (Rockwell/Rocco and Alexander)
Stellander (Stellan and Alexander)
@Luminen I have so much love for [name_u]Leo[/name_u] names, I agree it’s got a lot of smoosh potential (smootential?) Finnleo is lovely! Leofin? (I love the existing [name_m]Liodor[/name_m] and Leolin.)
@Greyblue who knew that [name_m]Ethaniel[/name_m] and [name_m]Rubert[/name_m] were in the namebank? Not me! [name_m]Ethaniel[/name_m] is great. I’m saying it with a long E sound like [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], but I’m leaning towards Eh-thaniel as the existing PN. Yes, Leodore!
Roxander/Rocksander is a chunky jewel of a name! It feels luxuriant and substantial.
These smoosh names are common here in [name_f]Italy[/name_f]!
I wanted to recommend the name of a cousin, [name_m]Giancarlo[/name_m], I like it myself.
Other ideas: [name_m]Eliodoro[/name_m], Pierpaolo
I know a young J!mothy (his dad: “Why is [name_m]Jim[/name_m] for [name_u]James[/name_u] but [name_m]Tim[/name_m] is for Timothy?”) We’ve joked they should have named another son Kenjamin, but they have others and he’s their only smoosh.
[name_m]Jebediah[/name_m]: my husband likes it, and I found it’s not a Bible name, it’s an invention like a smoosh of [name_m]Jedidiah[/name_m] and Obadiah/Zebediah.
