So many rules! Help!

Ok so it appears that baby #3 is actually a girl so back to narrowing down girl names. I feel like we are missing something here. Any suggestions? Here are the “rules”:

  • no nature names
  • no unisex names
  • no “m” or “h” names
  • no “lu” names ([name_f]Elouise[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], etc)

Here’s my list I’m getting ready to share with hubby and see what he thinks, but I still feel like I’m missing something!

Middle name may be [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Caroline[/name_f].

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] (long time fav of mine)
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] (almost named our dd this)
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] (maybe too popular)
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f] (love but not sure about hubby)
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]/[name_f]Georgina[/name_f] (love!)
Maebry (too made up sounding?)
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] (hubby’s fav)
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f] (not my fav but it flows well with last name)
[name_f]Talullah[/name_f] (I know it’s a lu name but I love it!)
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f] (not grown up enough?)
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] (love this too but hubby isn’t sure)

You seem to like British-sounding, vintage names/names with a history that are clearly feminine, so here are some suggestions- I tend to love names of this style too :slight_smile:

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Estella[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] (you could use [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] as a nickname)
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] (a less popular alternative to [name_f]Amelia[/name_f])
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]

Comments on your list:

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]- a personal favourite of mine too, and if you’ve loved it for awhile that’s always a plus!
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]- a solid, classic name that’s not too popular
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]- it is quite popular, but has so many nicknames that she can definitely find one to stand out if she likes
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f]- it’s a little more old-fashioned and clunky, but I like its vintage-chic charm and distinct sounds that don’t blend in with more popular names
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]/[name_f]Georgina[/name_f]- [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] doesn’t feel quite as distinctive since it’s more common, and there’s the whole [name_m]George[/name_m]- family of names. But very versatile, I can imagine it on any kind of girl
Maebry- you might have spelling/pronunciation issues, but it hits a sweet spot of having fashionable sounds without being trendy itself, with lots of -y/-ry ending names and [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], etc. being in style, yet Maebry itself is unique
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]- a frilly and princessy name with the easy-to-wear nickname [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] (and the storybook favourite [name_f]Wendy[/name_f]), the best of both worlds
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f]- if it’s not a favourite of yours, I’d give it up- there are so many other lovely names on your list!
[name_f]Talullah[/name_f]- spunky, bubbly and cheerful. spelling could be an issue though- I always get mixed up which is the single and which the double L!
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f]- sweet, fun and charming. It works perfectly well for an adult to me- there’s [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] Middleton and the equestrian [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] Funnell (both are actually Philippas but mostly go by [name_f]Pippa[/name_f])
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]- sweet, wearable and also quite versatile to me

What are your other kids’ names, by the way? :slight_smile:

I love most of these! My favs:

[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]

I’m going to do this “if you like X, you might like Y” style.

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] --> [name_f]Amity[/name_f], [name_f]Verity[/name_f], [name_f]Constance[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]

[name_f]Sybil[/name_f] --> [name_f]Sabine[/name_f]/[name_f]Sabina[/name_f], [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f], [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], Cyrene
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]/[name_f]Georgina[/name_f] --> [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_f]Geneva[/name_f], [name_f]Jemima[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
Maebry --> [name_f]Mavis[/name_f], [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] --> [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], Rhoswyn
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f] --> [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Leila[/name_f], [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Talullah[/name_f] --> [name_f]Talia[/name_f], [name_f]Talila[/name_f], [name_f]Talitha[/name_f], [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_f]Jacinta[/name_f]
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f] --> [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] --> [name_f]Garnet[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Safira[/name_f], [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f]

I replied your question above, sorry. Still figuring out these forums!
