So we decided to find out our baby's gender...help!

Thank you! And thank you for your input!

I agree about [name]Alex[/name] and [name]Zach[/name]! Definitely one of our top choices. And [name]Ben[/name] too. [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Reeve[/name] is so great…too bad we really need to continue our two middle name trend, lol. [name]Feel[/name] free to steal it though! :stuck_out_tongue: I think if we go with that we’re going to stick [name]Dashiell[/name] in the middle just because it sounds nice and honors my dad…and it’s your son’s name, correct? I love it.

Oh, you’d be surprised…NYC (especially where I live in downtown Manhattan) is quite liberal, especially compared to where I grew up and was tortured throughout high school. But I’ve still run into plenty of anti-gay people here. Lots of people are quick to criticize us for having biological children as well. But either way, we both really like [name]Gabriel[/name]. And I think it sounds nice with [name]Zach[/name]. And [name]Mia[/name] likes it a lot.

For girls’ names: I mentioned above that I love [name]Heidi[/name] for [name]Adelaide[/name]! And we pronounce [name]Delia[/name] as “DEEL-ya” I guess, but kind of like “[name]DEE[/name]-lee-ah” too. We still really like this name but my sister said it reminds her too much of [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Bedelia[/name], lol. :frowning: Oh, and we had no idea it was a store either…that deters me a little, to be honest.

And we like [name]Romy[/name] far better than [name]Remy[/name]! My partner loves the name [name]Jeremy[/name] but I can’t really get too attached to it. I really prefer [name]Alex[/name], [name]Gabe[/name] and [name]Ben[/name].

Thank you! Our other children are:

[name]Camille[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (she goes by [name]Milly[/name] sometimes, but usually we call her [name]Mia[/name] at home).
[name]Zachary[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] [name]Hart[/name] (goes by [name]Zach[/name] exclusively).
[name]Laura[/name] [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Alexis[/name] (we call her Lo almost exclusively, but we want her to go by [name]Laura[/name] when she enters kindergarten. She introduces herself as [name]Lola[/name] because she has a slight speech impediment and can’t really say [name]Laura[/name], lol).

And thank you for your suggestions! I love [name]Callum[/name] and [name]Connor[/name]. They’re both on my list, actually! We’re just really big on giving our kids lots of nickname options…so we’re kind of at a loss with these. I actually really like [name]Caleb[/name] though and would consider using that. Maybe as a middle name though, since I think it’s pretty popular these days. We considered [name]Romilly[/name] briefly but realized it seems like we forced it for the nickname [name]Romy[/name] (since we’re open about loving that nickname).

LOL yeah, we know about [name]Delia[/name] [name]Smith[/name]. Like I said, lots of family in the UK, so this is the reaction we had from my sister and her (also British) husband, aside from the whole [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Bedelia[/name] thing. I don’t know if it will deter us since we do love the name, but there seem to be more strikes against it so far.

And I’m glad you like [name]Gabriel[/name] too! I’m so torn between that and [name]Benjamin[/name].

Oh my gosh, [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Reeve[/name] was my favorite and now you put [name]Dashiell[/name] (my sons name) in there?? Wow! [name]Just[/name] can’t get any better for me! Oh and i definitely think [name]Dashiell[/name] can honor a [name]Daniel[/name]. I didn’t realize it so much until after my son was born, but my [name]BIL[/name] is [name]Daniel[/name] [name]David[/name] and my son is [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]David[/name] [name]Rowe[/name] and they are SO similar! Haha! Anyway, I will send you a really cute baby gift if you name ohm [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Reeve[/name]!

Can I just say that that tech is ridiculous? Wow. I mean, I could go on for paragraphs about it. What a bleep. And what kind of person says something like that about a three year old’s name? Not only is that rude, but kind of creepy, too. And that’s just the least of it, ugh! People like that make me so upset.

Maybe [name]Adelaide[/name] will grow on your family. When I first told it to my husband he didn’t get it, well actually i texted it to him first and he called me right away because he couldn’t pronounce it. Then he said it was “weird” “everyone will hate it” and “she’ll get made fun of” (and he normally likes really crazy names, never even occurred to me that [name]Adelaide[/name] is crazy!). Well, after about a day, he ended up loving it. So maybe the same would happen with your family. And I’m so glad you like the [name]Heidi[/name] nickname. It would be so cute with your other kids!

[name]Rosemary[/name] sounds like the perfect name for you, though! Especially because of the woman who saved your life! Perfect!

congrats on the news!
Iove the names of your other children and I agree the new babies names need to fit in…

From your boys list, I like [name]Jeremy[/name] [name]Reeve[/name] the best (First, Middle)
From your girls list, I like [name]Julia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] (but with both names with J, is that too matchy? I think they sound cute together)
Other names that would sound nice with your other children:
[name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Joseph[/name] (maybe too much with your last name)
[name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name]
** I like all the above with [name]Reeve[/name]
[name]Gabrielle[/name] (if you don’t use [name]Gabe[/name], I like this one for a girl)
[name]Annabelle[/name]
[name]Alison[/name]/[name]Alicia[/name]- I think [name]Ali[/name] would be such a cute nn with your other names
[name]Grace[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]

good luck!
melly

[name]Ada[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name]
[name]Delia[/name] [name]Rosemary[/name] (our favorite so far)
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] (our other favorite)
Liviana
[name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name] (too popular now)
[name]Victoria[/name]

Aww! I’m glad you like it! We could actually exchange baby gifts…are you TTC anytime soon? I really love your name ideas (I lurk your posts!) and I’d love to see them come true!

And yeah, I called D when we got home to tell him, and he’s furious. He actually wants to complain. The tech was pretty young (and very new to the job, I think) and even though Lo didn’t hear what he said about her name, he actually asked her to her face if she was a Gosselin. As in, [name]Jon[/name] and [name]Kate[/name] Plus 8. Because she’s half Japanese (like [name]Mia[/name] is, and these twins are too). But she’s THREE. I said something like “I don’t think she’s seen that show” lol. But yeah, we’re pretty upset about it - I’m used to getting crap like that, but not about my kids. :expressionless:

I really hope [name]Adelaide[/name] grows on them! D likes it and I really love it. Especially with [name]Benjamin[/name]. If not, we’ll definitely try to use it as a middle name somewhere, and we’d be fine using the nn [name]Heidi[/name] for that too! I have to admit I actually do really like the nn [name]Addie[/name] too, though.

OK, I just scanned this thread and I’m worried about [name]Delia[/name]! Please don’t let the fact that [name]Delia[/name]'s was a mail-order catalog for tweens that was popular in the '90’s deter you from [name]Delia[/name]! That’s like not using [name]Charlotte[/name] b/c of [name]Charlotte[/name] Russe!! [name]Delia[/name] is a great name that goes back to ancient Greece, for God’s sake!

PS. I saw on another thread that you are doing pre-med coursework. DH is applying for med school right now. Terrifying!

I will be TTC semi soon…the sooner the better, but we need a better place to live, first. As soon as that happens, we’ll start trying! We have major baby fever. I’m hoping that we can start before [name]Christmas[/name] or even earlier, fingers crossed!

He asked her if she was a Gosselin??? That’s just plain racist! Seriously, i would be beyond livid. You guys should definitely file a complaint. I doubt the office would be okay with him doing that. Honestly if it was my business and i found out about that, that guy would be fired in two seconds flat.

[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Adelaide[/name] are really great together. I love [name]Ben[/name] and [name]Addie[/name] or [name]Ben[/name] and [name]Heidi[/name]! Oh, and I like [name]Addie[/name], too. The only thing i don’t [name]Ike[/name] about it is the popularity, two of my nieces are Madi and [name]Abby[/name], so [name]Addie[/name] for [name]Adelaide[/name] would be silly for me.

Is [name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] ___ too long for you? Oh! Are the names on the list the only ones being considered for first and middles? Or are there extra names you didn’t list for middles?

LOL you’re so right, actually…I was just being paranoid again. I’ve never heard of [name]Charlotte[/name] Russe either, but I looked it up and it doesn’t deter me from [name]Charlotte[/name], so [name]Delia[/name] is fine. I think the [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Bedelia[/name] thing got to me the most, to be honest. My sisters definitely had those books when we were kids in the 70s and 80s.

And yes, I am. I’m on a break now for the summer semester but next month I’ll start up again. I’ve been sick so it’s hard for me to actually go to school very often, so it may take me a while to complete. In reality I’ll probably never get to even apply to med school, let alone be a doctor, but it’s nice to dream and I do like taking classes.

Yes! I didn’t at all mean that [name]Delia[/name]*s should deter you from using [name]Delia[/name]! I only mentioned it because you asked specifically about possible issues with [name]Delia[/name]. It was a cute catalog, anyway, not a negative association! Oh! And does your sister have an issue with [name]Amelia[/name]? Because that makes me think of [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Bedelia[/name] a lot more that [name]Delia[/name] does, and it’s super popular!

Yeah, that’s what we thought too. I’m not very confrontational and as long as it doesn’t happen again, I’ll be okay, but yeah luckily Lo’s only three lol. To be fair (I guess) we’ve been told many times that Lo looks like one of the Gosselin sextuplet girls, so I kind of laughed it off, but I was still irked at him for implying that I can’t be a parent to five kids because of my illnesses. If that’s what he was even implying. I don’t even know.

Ahhh, now that I think of it I really like [name]Ben[/name] and [name]Addie[/name] a lot! I can’t wait to see what [name]Derrick[/name] thinks. I had also been thinking of [name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name], actually! It’s in my notebook. We are kind of stuck with middle names at this point, after what we’ve listed. [name]Do[/name] you have any ideas? I was thinking [name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] (or [name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]). Maybe.

Time to go take Lo and the dog for a walk, and then get the kids home from camp, but I will check back later. It’s soooo nice to be able to discuss all of this with people!

It’s called Good [name]Luck[/name] [name]Charlie[/name], and I’m pretty sure it’s fairly new. The kids in the family, which are the main characters, are named PJ (boy), [name]Teddy[/name] (girl), [name]Gabe[/name] (boy), and [name]Charlie[/name] (girl). Frankly [name]Gabe[/name] is the only name I like. Their friends are named [name]Emmett[/name] (boy), [name]Ivy[/name] (girl), and [name]Spencer[/name] (boy), so I guess those kids had parents with better taste haha.

I think [name]Gabe[/name] is fine. I knew a kid named [name]Gabrial[/name] and he was never picked on. I do think it sounds a little girly though but its still a very good name expecialy with the nn [name]Gabe[/name]. P.S. you know how you said that you were worry about the names colors clashing well theres this thing called synesthesia where peoples senses are “crossed” for example some one may see names in color when there really black and white or when they see a door slam they may also see brown swirls it pritty hard to understand but its pritty cool! Sorry for getting off topic, I have synesthesia. Good luck and I really like [name]Gabe[/name] and [name]Romy[/name]

Congratulations on twins! From your list, I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Julia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Delia[/name] [name]Rosemary[/name], and I think either would be absolutely perfect with your other kids. I also really like [name]Ramona[/name] and [name]Rosemary[/name], but the others don’t seem to work as well. Combos could be [name]Julia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Julia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Delia[/name] [name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Ada[/name] or [name]Delia[/name] [name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]. My favorites on your boy’s list are [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Lukas[/name], and [name]Declan[/name]. I think [name]Benjamin[/name] would be great with [name]Camille[/name], [name]Zachary[/name], [name]Laura[/name], and [name]Delia[/name] or [name]Julia[/name] (or [name]Rosemary[/name]). What about [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name] [name]Reeve[/name] or [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Lukas[/name] [name]Reeve[/name]?

Wow twins! Congrats, you must be very excited!

The ones I like the best off your list are:

[name]Adelaide[/name]- I like this one. I could [name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name] together.
[name]Delia[/name]- I’m not sure why this is so uncommon, I’ve always loved it.
[name]Julia[/name]- [name]Julia[/name] has many of the same qualities are [name]Laura[/name] and [name]Camille[/name] do, understaded, classic, and very timeless. [name]Camille[/name], [name]Laura[/name], and [name]Julia[/name] are perfect together.
[name]Aaron[/name]- I could see [name]Aaron[/name] and [name]Zachary[/name] together as brothers.
[name]Benjamin[/name]- [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Alec[/name] [name]Reeve[/name] was the first combo that jumped out at me, what do you think? I love [name]Benjamin[/name] with your kids names.
[name]Lucas[/name]- [name]Lucas[/name] is not my favorite name in the world but it is nice. It sounds good with the others too. Maybe [name]Lucas[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Graham[/name]?

Others I could see working:
[name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Maia[/name]/[name]Maya[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Emeline[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Anna[/name]

[name]Philip[/name]
[name]Julian[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Ethan[/name]
[name]Charles[/name]
[name]William[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Marshall[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name]
[name]Daniel[/name]
[name]Nicholas[/name]

LOL you’re so right, actually…I was just being paranoid again. I’ve never heard of [name]Charlotte[/name] Russe either, but I looked it up and it doesn’t deter me from [name]Charlotte[/name], so [name]Delia[/name] is fine. OK, good. Keep it on the list!! [name]Delia[/name] doesn’t remind me of [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Bedelia[/name] any more than [name]Amelia[/name] does, and that doesn’t seem to bother people! Besides, [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Bedelia[/name] is a cute association!

DH likes taking classes too. In fact, he’d probably just keep taking classes with no plan in mind if he didn’t have me filling out applications, writing essays, and basically doing all the busy work that keeps me from [name]EVER[/name] wanting to go back to school! We (by which I mean I) should be finishing the app process in the next couple of weeks and should know something fairly soon. Keep your fingers crossed!

It’s still on the list. D and I have been talking about it and I think our favorites are [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Julia[/name], [name]Delia[/name] and [name]Adelaide[/name] for girls, and [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name] for boys. That’s roughly in the order we like them. I really like reading people’s ideas for middle names and twin combinations! I’ve been writing them all down.

But yeah, [name]Evie[/name] (my sister) doesn’t really like [name]Amelia[/name] either, for the [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Bedelia[/name] reason but also I think she just plain doesn’t like it. Oh well.

Good luck to your husband!! And wow that’s pretty awesome that you’re helping him that much…I mean I helped D with his law school applications ages ago, as well as helping him study for the [name]Bar[/name] Exam twice (he took it in NY and MA just in case we move there). But I still love hearing about aspiring doctors most.

[quote=“jayjoh”]Sorry in advance for this extremely long post:

My partner and I took our children’s mother for our first ultrasound today, because we’re 19 weeks pregnant tomorrow and we couldn’t take it anymore…we needed to know! But we were in for a huge surprise…we’re not expecting one baby, but TWINS! One is a boy for sure, and it looked like the other is a girl (they’re both small, though). We’re still in shock, because at our last prenatal checkup (12 weeks) we listened for a heartbeat, and they told us there was only one! And [name]Gina[/name] doesn’t seem out of the ordinary at all, except a little on the big side (lol). And we didn’t use IVF this time around so we didn’t schedule an earlier ultrasound. We had no idea! Sorry for rambling, it’s just kind of crazy! My partner’s a little freaked out (we’d planned for no more than four kids) but I think it’ll be okay.

But naturally, I’ve been obsessing over NAMES! I much prefer to think about and plan out girls’ names, so now that we know we have a boy on the way, we have to really think about boys names. We have some names we both like:

[name]Aaron[/name]
[name]Alec[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Brian[/name]
[name]Declan[/name] (doesn’t really go with our other kids, but maybe a mn?)
[name]Gabriel[/name]
[name]Graham[/name]
[name]Jeremy[/name] (nn [name]Remy[/name])
[name]Lukas[/name]
[name]Reeve[/name] (as a mn - it’s my brother’s name).

My partner doesn’t really care about names too much, but he doesn’t like some of the names I like, such as [name]Theo[/name], [name]Jude[/name], [name]Elias[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name]. He prefers more “typical” names (he actually mentioned he liked [name]Justin[/name] but I think it sounds weird with our last name). Does anyone have any suggestions for other names we may agree on, or middle name ideas? All our kids have two middle names.

We’ve been thinking a lot more about girls names…we like:

[name]Ada[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name]
[name]Delia[/name] [name]Rosemary[/name] (our favorite so far)
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] (our other favorite)
Liviana
[name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name] (too popular now)
[name]Victoria[/name]

[name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Julia[/name], [name]Delia[/name] and [name]Adelaide[/name] for girls, and [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name] for boys.

So these are your options:
[name]Rosemary[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name] and [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name]
I think those all work great together! [name]Rosemary[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name] is probably the most interesting combination. [name]Romy[/name] and [name]Gabe[/name] is SO cute together. I really love [name]Rosemary[/name] with any of these, though.

[name]Julia[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] and [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name]
I love [name]Julia[/name] with [name]Ben[/name] and [name]Alex[/name]… it seems a little too similar to [name]Gabriel[/name] to me. I think [name]Julia[/name] is the most obvious choice for your sibset, it’s gorgeous and classic. I think it’s really perfect with either [name]Benjamin[/name] or [name]Alexander[/name].

[name]Delia[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Delia[/name] and [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Delia[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name]
Stylistically, I think [name]Delia[/name] is best with [name]Gabriel[/name]… but at the same time I don’t think they sound that good together, a little too matchy maybe? [name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Delia[/name]… I don’t know… I think I like [name]Delia[/name] with [name]Alexander[/name] slightly more than with [name]Benjamin[/name]… but only a tiny bit.

[name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name]
I love all of these, but [name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Alexander[/name] are pretty matchy. I would choose [name]Benjamin[/name] with [name]Adelaide[/name], to me it makes [name]Adelaide[/name] seem more mainstream, which [name]Gabriel[/name] makes it seem more unusual.

[name]Lyndsay[/name], I feel like you’ve been reading my mind! lol. I’ve been really obsessed with the combination [name]Romy[/name] and [name]Gabe[/name] all night. After we put the kids to bed we had a really long discussion about the name [name]Gabe[/name] and we actually think it could work. We think it sounds weird with our Scandinavian last name, but we love [name]Gabe[/name] and [name]Romy[/name] as twins. It may be a little too different from our other kids, though.

And we also love [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Ben[/name]! I think if we go with [name]Julia[/name] her twin will definitely be [name]Benjamin[/name]. To me, these colors match up the best, lol. And they’re classic names that sound really nice together and with our other kids. [name]Camille[/name], [name]Zachary[/name], [name]Laura[/name], [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Ben[/name]. I think it looks really good. We’re just not sure about middle names (but good news: D likes [name]Dashiell[/name] a lot for a mn!).

I think we’d pair [name]Delia[/name] with [name]Alexander[/name], like you said! [name]Even[/name] though the names don’t really match up in terms of sound and style, their colors (to me) look so perfect together…green and blue. And I really like the name [name]Alex[/name] even if it’s overused. I think it’s a classic and sort of works with [name]Delia[/name].

And for [name]Adelaide[/name] I love [name]Gabe[/name] and [name]Ben[/name]! Definitely not [name]Alex[/name] lol. Too much for us. But yeah, one thing I realized is that we’re really focusing too much on girls’ names here…we’re basing our boys’ names on our girls’ names. Is that unfair to our son? I feel kind of guilty about it. I just really find girls’ names much more interesting lol.

Tonight we asked the kids which names they liked without telling them our favorites. [name]Mia[/name] still wants a baby sister named [name]Ramona[/name], and she likes the name [name]Gabe[/name] for a boy. She also really likes [name]Emily[/name], which I love too. And she also suggested the name [name]Jayden[/name] for a boy…lol. [name]Zach[/name] said he liked the name [name]Maddie[/name] after a girl at his day camp, and Lo said she likes [name]Toby[/name] after our dog, lol. And “[name]Silky[/name]” also after our dog (a [name]Silky[/name] Terrier). So as you can see I’m very grateful for all the advice on nameberry!

I dont want to be the parypooper but if the baby became twins very late, its probably identical twins (and in that case I think it are two boys because of the one twin looking like a boy) I dont know if its true, maybe the doctor didnt found the second hartbeat the first time.

Anyways, I LOVEEEEE [name]Romy[/name] and [name]Gabe[/name]. I didnt think about [name]Gay[/name] till someone pointed it out here. So yeah…

For twin boys i like [name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name] or [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Alexander[/name].
For girls i like [name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Rosemary[/name] ‘[name]Addie[/name] and [name]Romy[/name]’ the best.

Sorry if i am the partpooper though
