You have completely outdone yourself. This list is so varied that some are a bit off the mark for me but some are right on. It’s a great list.

Also, as a lover of nature names I had never considered Wintry for a name but that’s just cool.

I hadn’t ever considered that as a possibility before. It would explain why my idea of what fits an image is consistently a bit different that what others feel fits. I’ll have to look into this a bit more.

I also adore this fabulously creative thread and, funnily enough, several people have told me that they think my Eldest Daughter and I have Synesthesia!

For me [name_f]Norah[/name_f] is the PERFECT Vanilla Name!!! <3 Here are the others I would add to your list:

Sarah (This is my name and for several years my Mother-in-law called me her Vanilla Girl and gave me Vanilla candles, perfumes and soaps etc. It is now one of my favourite scents! )

I think one’s opinion on vanilla would impact the answer. some people consider vanilla to be synonymous with boring, or safe. some people may think of it in racial terms. What does vanilla mean to you?

I immediately thought of vanilla in racial terms, and recoiled a bit, especially as all of the names everyone is listing are stereotypically very white and upper income.

The second association I have with the word is safe/boring (as people term certain kinds of s*x).

And then thirdly the fragrance/flavor… But the fragrance is so ambiguous; what does it mean? Would it have made sense for the original poster to describe the names as “soft, warm, and cinnamon”? Or “soft, warm, chocolate”? “Soft, warm, lemony”? Why vanilla?

When I used the term vanilla I mean soft, creamy, and pale. Almost the way you’d describe a scoop of vanilla ice cream. For further clarification race had nothing to do with the term ‘vanilla’ and I’m sorry it may have been perceived to mean so.
