[name]Hi[/name] all
I have an idea for a girl’s name and want to know your opinions. We love the name [name]Solenne[/name] and discovered it through a French Canadian girl we know in NY. What are your impressions of the name? Too French for an American girl? Pretentious? I think it’s so lovely – just curious what your first impressions are.
Thank you!

[name]Solenne[/name] is gorgeous! My only question is how to properly pronounce it. Is it (sol-[name]LEN[/name]) or is it ([name]SOL[/name]-len) or something different? Either way, it’s very pretty. I don’t think its too French or pretentious at all. I think it’s perfect for any girl. I’ve been looking for a girl name that has the nickname ‘[name]Sol[/name]’ for a while now, I’m going to have to keep [name]Solenne[/name] in the back of my mind
I assume it’s pronounced sol-ENNE, and I think it’s gorgeous. I love the [name]Sol[/name]- names too, and this has such a soft, whispery ending.
I like it! I don’t think it’s too French and yes it’s “soh len” if a French name ends in “enne” it’s always pronounced “en”. I don’t think this name will have prn problems and would use it
I think [name]Solenne[/name] is a soft and pretty French name. Personally, since it’s pronounced the same way it’s spelled, I don’t think it would be a huge problem. If you love it, I would encourage you to go for it! It would be a bold and unique choice.
What an absolutely lovely name! I had never heard of it before and now I think it’s going to be a favorite.
Thanks all!! I’m happy to hear you don’t think it’s pretentious or too French for an American girl. I really do love the nam. It’s means [name]Sun[/name] is some translations and Solemn (eh) in others. I’ll go with [name]Sun[/name]
It means solemn or serious, it’s not related to the sun
. [name]Ive[/name] read here that it can also be translated to: Sunlight, Eastern wind
