[name_u]Baby[/name_u] #7 is arriving in [name_u]August[/name_u] and this will be our tie-breaker, giving us 4 girls and 3 boys. I want her to have something beautiful, feminine, spunky and that fits well with her sisters.
Big sisters are
[name_f]Oriana[/name_f]-goes by [name_u]Ori[/name_u]
Pacience-goes by [name_f]Pacie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f]-affectionately called [name_f]Lu[/name_f] by her older sisters
Our current contenders are
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_u]Sloane[/name_u]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Honor[/name_f]
Aven
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u]
My fav might just be [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] right now, but I worry that it’s not feminine enough. I do love the spunkiness of it, though.
Other names we’e tossed around
Alora/[name_f]Elora[/name_f]-this is husbands top pick, but I can’t get over the inevitable NN of [name_f]Aly[/name_f] or [name_f]Elly[/name_f]. It makes me physically cringe, so I think we have to scratch this option off.
I just need feedback and maybe some encouragement that ONE of these HAS to be “IT”!!
I don’t think feminine and spunky are mutually exclusive
I think [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], and [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] are the most feminine on your list but I wouldn’t call any of those particularly spunky - they are more classic, regal, floral, etc. I suppose any name can be spunky when it’s on a spunky child though!
My favorite is [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], because I do think it’s sassy and definitely sophisticated and feminine. It also has good nicknames like [name_f]Merry[/name_f] and [name_f]Edie[/name_f] which are adorable
[name_f]Oriana[/name_f], Pacience, and [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] are all very different stylistically which means you can sort of pick anything for #4 and it will work to a degree. [name_f]Honor[/name_f] is a little too virtue-esque to go with big sister Pacience.
Aven, [name_u]Merritt[/name_u], and [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] don’t fit feminine and spunky in my opinion.
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Elora[/name_f]! Have you considered [name_u]Ellery[/name_u]? It has a similar sound and seems less likely to become [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
I was going to vote for [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] but it’s very close to [name_f]Oriana[/name_f]. Alora/[name_f]Elora[/name_f] is great but I wouldn’t say [name_f]Aly[/name_f] or [name_m]Ely[/name_m] are inevitable. Actually my first thought was that [name_f]Lora[/name_f] would be a good nickname. Alora has the same sort of sound as [name_f]Oriana[/name_f], as well, though.
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] would be said “[name_m]George[/name_m]-[name_f]Anna[/name_f]”, NN [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]
[name_f]Lora[/name_f] for a NN also makes me cringe a lot. I do agree, Alora has that “ora” very close to big sis. Another reason I fear this isn’t a realistic option. It is a stunning name, though. I offered the NN [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as an option to hubby, and he liked it, but then AGAIN [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and [name_u]Ori[/name_u]…
I fear it’s going to be a “draw from a hat” type deal at the hospital!!
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u] is awesome. However how do you feel about [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] as nicknames? If you dislike them scratch [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]. My best friend has this name and everyone calls her [name_m]George[/name_m] or [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]. Honestly the others don’t feel right like [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] does
[name_f]Oriana[/name_f], Pacience, [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] and [name_f]Marielle[/name_f]
[name_u]Ori[/name_u], [name_f]Pacie[/name_f], [name_f]Lu[/name_f] and [name_f]Mari[/name_f]
[name_u]Ori[/name_u], [name_f]Pacie[/name_f], [name_f]Lu[/name_f] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_f]Oriana[/name_f], Pacience, [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_u]Ori[/name_u], [name_f]Pacie[/name_f], [name_f]Lu[/name_f] and Zibi
[name_f]Oriana[/name_f], Pacience, [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] and [name_f]Suzanna[/name_f]
[name_u]Ori[/name_u], [name_f]Pacie[/name_f], [name_f]Lu[/name_f] and [name_f]Sukie[/name_f]
Definitely ok with [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] as a NN. This was actually chosen as a possible honor name. My grandpa was [name_m]George[/name_m], so I am 100% comfortable with the NN.
