just to start off I want to make it clear that this has definitely been done before, so it’s not my idea, just something I thought would be fun :blush:.

Anyway, I was wondering if you had songs or characters (books or tv!) you would name your kids after. It doesn’t necessarily have to be like a name you would actually use, more of a hypothetical type thing! Like if you could you would.

I actually did name my kids after characters in a way…

:blue_heart::sheep: Linus is named after the Peanuts character actually. We grew up on Charlie Brown because my aunt that I am very close with (my son’s godmother) loves the Peanuts! Also Linus’s speech in the Charlie Brown Christmas movie has always been my favorite because the angels appearing to the shepherds is my favorite Bible story.

:dress::purple_heart: Trudy is named after the Mad Men character :sweat_smile:. I loved the show (and mostly the names in the show!!! Every single one is :revolving_hearts::revolving_hearts:) and it was the only series my husband and I have completed together since having kids, lol!

I decided to go with names that are on my list that I got from a character that I love

Adrian - Adrian Monk, from the show, “Monk”
Amos - Amos Hart, from, “Chicago”
Everett - Ulysses Everett McGill, from, “O’ Brother, Where art thou?”
Seeley - Seeley Booth, from, “Bones”

I also have a few that are for musicians but not technically after specific songs

a fun question!! i’m only doing names that i directly took from songs/characters, not names that i like and just also happen to be songs/characters.

estella - from dickens’ great expectations, this is probably my biggest love for a name that came from a book!
pip - great expectations
pippa - the goldfinch
percy - the percy jackson series
wilbur - part of why i love it is the charlotte’s web association: one of my favourite movies when i was little!
francis - i’ve always liked it, but i started loving it because of a character from my favourite book, the secret history!
sophie - from howl’s moving castle
lottie - from howl’s moving castle, as well as the book lottie and lisa which i adored as a child
mika (b) - i started liking it because of the singer! he has some songs i really love, like stuck in the middle & grace kelly
rose - the song “rose” by the oh hellos is one of my favourite songs of all time, and it speaks a lot to me
arthur - not sure if this counts for this list haha but arthur rimbaud is my favourite poet, and his work made me really like the name

from songs, the obvious ones for me are betty and august (g), after the taylor swift songs. from books, theodore from little women and jane from the penderwicks and pride and prejudice.

there’s a lot more names from songs // books on my list, but these are the only i’d consider for actual children.
