At this point, I prefer [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. It just seems like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is so much more popular and I see it everywhere, both in life and online, so it’s not really that special to me anymore. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t get me wrong though, I still like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]— they’re both lovely names.
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]! Has something a little more feminine to it
I prefer [name_f]Sophie[/name_f].
Until literally this week I would have said [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], no contest. Yes, it’s very popular right across the Western world, but for good reason - it’s soft, stong, femnine, international and has a long history of use and wonderful meaning.
But just lately I’ve really started to see the appeal of [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. I used to find it a bit too cute and little-girlish, but I’m starting to see it more as [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]'s sweet, sleek, chic [name_m]French[/name_m] sister - kind of like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] vs [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. So I actually think I prefer [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] now.
Both beautiful names though, and popular for a reason!
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] by far! Lately I have became less fond of names that end in a. I know many Sophias in all of ages, it’s quite popular where I live, and no Sophies. [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] seems to me as a sleek, sophisticated name, feminine and sassy.
Now if [name_f]Sophronia[/name_f]/Sofonisba were options…
But [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is popular for a reason, and I find tthe meaning just wonderful!
In the end its only up to you. If you like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] more, you can always call her [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], if [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] ends up not suited the child.
Around 10-12 years ago, before I knew about popularity, [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] was my favorite girl name. I knew a few Sophies, but no Sophias.
Now however, I feel like I hear [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] everywhere. It’s a lovely international name and I understand why it’s popular, but at this point I could never see myself using it. [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] however, seems fresh in comparison. I don’t think I would ever use either for an actual child, but I prefer [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]!
I’m really liking [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] right now. I grew up knowing a huge number of [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]'s, but I’ve never met a [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] so despite it’s rise in popularity it feels quite fresh to me.
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] as [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is too popular
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] because it ages well.
I would say [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] as a nickname
Very close, but I chose [name_f]Sophie[/name_f].
I know a [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] who also goes by [name_f]Sofie[/name_f]. So I think you could easily use both! [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] sounds a bit more like a nickname to me anyway. So [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] would be perfect, and the best of both worlds
I’ve gotten so tired of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] that I much prefer [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] now (actually, I always did but now it’s by a lot more than before).
However, I do think [name_f]Sofia[/name_f], with this spelling, still has some charm left!
I prefer [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] just because of how popular [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is. However, if I were to have a child and use either of the names I would use [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] because [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] sounds like too much of a nickname.
I love [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]! [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is way too popular for me. I find the [name_m]French[/name_m] Verizon of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], much softer compared to [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] as well. Sadly [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] was the name of my hubby’s dog growing up so it will never make the cut in the future. I’ve met tons of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]'s and [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]'s, but not many [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]'s. I have an extended family member name [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] as a nickname, she’s 16.
I adore both but prefer [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. Although I find [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]/[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] beautiful, I found myself preferring to use [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] (while testing the name out). I am one for calling your child what you will call them most of the time. For example I like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] but adore [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. I personally would never call a [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] by his full name, so I would call him [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. He could always go by Ted if he wishes later in life.
They are both too popular for my liking. I am not a fan of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] as it is, but [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] sounds better to me.
I like [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] better . [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] feels worn out now and too formal.
I know two little girls named [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], and both of them go by [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] instead. To me they feel about even, possibly leaning towards [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] just a little bit more because I like the option of going by either [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] or [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] later on in life if they want.
