Southern boy names

We are having our second little babe but are totally clueless on what he will be named.

Our daughter is named [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u]. Which was so easy to decide on. But with boy names nothing is coming up that we love.

My husband has always wanted to name a boy after himself. He is a [name_m]JR[/name_m] so this baby would then be the third. The issues is his name is [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Alan[/name_m]. Which I loathe the combo. All I think of is the racist country singer ” With that being said, it’s out. We would love to have my husbands name involved though. I would prefer [name_m]David[/name_m] over [name_m]Alan[/name_m] but at this point I just want it to flow well.

We love classic southern names like [name_m]John[/name_m] (can’t use because it’s a family members name), I love [name_m]Lawson[/name_m] (DD is on the fence), [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] or [name_m]Samson[/name_m]. Nothing is really sticking out though. We aren’t in love with anything yet. Our last name is [name_m]Fleetwood[/name_m] so it needs to flow with that as well.

HELP!

What about [name_m]Benson[/name_m]? It has a classic nickname and would sound great with [name_m]David[/name_m]. [name_m]Benson[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Fleetwood[/name_m].

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Dawson[/name_m]?

It has a similar sound and feel to the other names you like and literally means “son of [name_m]David[/name_m]”.

I actually love [name_m]Alan[/name_m]! It’s got a bit of an older man feel now, but not dated to me (probably because I haven’t ever known anyone named [name_m]Alan[/name_m].)

I like [name_m]John[/name_m] the best from your list which is most definitely still alive and kicking in the South.
