Space name for girl!

Sorry I went a little overboard with my response but I started having so much fun with it I just couldn’t stop myself.

[name_f]Star[/name_f] and Spacecraft inspired names:
Lira, [name_f]Eos[/name_f], [name_f]Nysa[/name_f], [name_f]Carina[/name_f], [name_f]Themis[/name_f], [name_u]Ara[/name_u], [name_u]Ariel[/name_u], [name_u]Calypso[/name_u], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Vela[/name_f], [name_f]Galaxy[/name_f], [name_f]Selene[/name_f], Strela, Astird, [name_f]Cerise[/name_f], [name_u]Vega[/name_u], Polaris, [name_f]Capella[/name_f], [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f], [name_f]Cassiopeia[/name_f], [name_f]Libra[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Vela[/name_f]

Astronaut names:
[name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] ([name_m]Thornton[/name_m]) and [name_f]Sally[/name_f] (Ride), [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] ([name_f]Earhart[/name_f] - alright not an outer space connection but a awesome flying related name - could be a cool mn).

[name_f]Non[/name_f] Space names but Space related for the sci-fi nerd (that I think would be swell with [name_f]Terra[/name_f]):
[name_f]Serenity[/name_f] (Firefly), Inara (Firefly), [name_f]Vala[/name_f] (SG1), Aayla (SW), Emony (ST), Chiana (FS), Aeryn (FS), [name_f]Moya[/name_f] (FS), [name_f]Padme[/name_f] (SW), [name_f]Leia[/name_f] (SW), [name_f]Satine[/name_f] (SW), Tatooine (SW),

Mythology non-[name_f]Earth[/name_f] related names:
[name_f]Iris[/name_f], Egeria (also SG1), [name_f]Aura[/name_f], Hemera, Hathor, Tinia, Tangaloa, Menily, Artimes, [name_f]Diana[/name_f], Hecate, Elatha, [name_f]Isis[/name_f], Sunna (maybe too matchy with [name_f]Terra[/name_f] though?), [name_f]Surya[/name_f] (technically male but I feel like it could translate to female if you feel comfortable with that).

Names I would avoid:

  1. [name_u]Sky[/name_u] and [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] - they feel very matchy with [name_f]Terra[/name_f] and also if you had another kid what would you name them? Something water or air related?
  2. [name_f]Nova[/name_f] - just as the others said above there was that show [name_f]Terra[/name_f] [name_f]Nova[/name_f] not to recently. Sadly I don’t think it was all that great as it only lasted 1 season. (This is not Firefly we are talking about).
  3. [name_f]Hera[/name_f] - while she is the goddess of the sky it’s a little to matchy-rhymey with [name_f]Terra[/name_f].

I second any repeats:
[name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Nova[/name_f], [name_u]Vega[/name_u], [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Celestia[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Zelena[/name_f], [name_m]Jupiter[/name_m], [name_m]Mars[/name_m], [name_f]Danika[/name_f], [name_u]Vesper[/name_u], [name_f]Vespera[/name_f], [name_f]Ayla[/name_f], [name_f]Altalune[/name_f], [name_f]Cia[/name_f]

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Nova[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Celestia[/name_f], [name_f]Zelena[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_m]Mars[/name_m]. And I agree about the earth and moon contrast with [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and [name_f]Terra[/name_f] that petticoaterella pointed out, that would be cool! [name_f]Terra[/name_f] [name_u]Halley[/name_u] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] seem like winners to me because of that contrast with the first two names and then the use of a, y, and e in both [name_u]Halley[/name_u] and [name_f]Faye[/name_f], it makes them look great together!

I love [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]! It would be fun for your second daughter to also have a comet name in the middle spot.

I love a lot of the above mentioned ideas. I would like to add that I have always loved that “Mir” (Meer) means both “[name_f]Earth[/name_f]” and “[name_u]Peace[/name_u]” in Russian. So the phrase "mir mira” means "peace on earth”. There are many names that incorporate Mir in them.

[name_f]Mira[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirella[/name_f]

It’s a coincidence that I have always thought is not a coincidence!

I love [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Faye[/name_f] & [name_f]Nova[/name_f]. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] and [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] are good combinations.

What about:
[name_f]Adhara[/name_f]: one of the brightest stars in the sky, and the second brightest star in the constellation Canis [name_m]Major[/name_m]. (my favorite!)
[name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f]: the third brightest star in the constellation [name_u]Orion[/name_u], and a [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] character.
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]: a small constellation.
[name_f]Meissa[/name_f]: a star in the constellation [name_u]Orion[/name_u], means the shining one.

I like [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_m]Marsden[/name_m]!

Other suggestion:
[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]

[name_f]Thalassa[/name_f] is a moon of [name_u]Neptune[/name_u].

I like [name_f]Faye[/name_f] and [name_f]Nova[/name_f] best.

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] I know a lot of people love but I feel like they would be called Looney [name_f]Luna[/name_f] …

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I like the idea of [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]. We don’t agree on whether it’d be [name_f]Andie[/name_f] or [name_m]Rommie[/name_m] for short. I feel like [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] is heavy compared to [name_f]Terra[/name_f], though, so I’m not sure it works.

[name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is pretty. I also love [name_f]Celestine[/name_f].
I’m fond of [name_f]Esther[/name_f], which means star.
In [name_m]Greco[/name_m]-[name_m]Roman[/name_m] legend, another name for the moon goddess was [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is also a moon of [name_m]Saturn[/name_m].
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Selene[/name_f], or even [name_f]Selene[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] feels more usable to me than [name_f]Luna[/name_f] up front.
[name_f]Io[/name_f] is striking. [name_f]Juno[/name_f], however, might be more usable? [name_f]Terra[/name_f] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] is adorable.
I love [name_f]Cressida[/name_f], though Uranus is a rather… loaded… association. Uranus DOES have a bunch of awesomely named moons though, because they were using a [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] theme. So [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Desdemona[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], etc.

[name_f]My[/name_f] personal fave picks with [name_f]Terra[/name_f] [name_f]Hailey[/name_f]:
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Io[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] ([name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is a moon of Uranus)
[name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Mona[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] with [name_f]Terra[/name_f] [name_f]Hailey[/name_f]

So after reading through everyone’s awesome suggestions, we’ve sort of tentatively picked a name.

We really liked the idea of [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] (it was our backup plan name if we couldn’t decide), but we were afraid ‘[name_f]Luna[/name_f]’ would get turned into ‘Looney’ by some awful little children. xD

While scrolling through I really liked the name [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f], but I didn’t like the double ‘y’. So unless something really catches my fancy, I think we’re going with Lira [name_f]Faye[/name_f], with an i.

I still kind of wish I could have found a planet name to go with [name_f]Faye[/name_f] so that both girls could be planet/comet, but oh well. Thanks for all your input guys!
