Spelling for Nye-uh (Naia, Nya or Niah)

I really like the name [name_f]Naia[/name_f], pronounced [name_m]Nye[/name_m]-uh, but I’m not sure if this is the correct spelling. I would think it’s similar enough to [name_f]Maia[/name_f] (My-uh) but I don’t know if people would pronounce it Nay-uh? Opinions?

[name_f]Nya[/name_f] is the most clearcut way to nye-uh, and [name_f]Niah[/name_f] I would say as NEE-uh. [name_f]Naia[/name_f], however, looks prettier to me than [name_f]Nya[/name_f].

if it rhymes with [name_f]Maya[/name_f], which is pronounced like M EYE [name_m]AH[/name_m], then I would spell it [name_f]Naya[/name_f].

I would spell [name_f]Maia[/name_f] either [name_f]Maya[/name_f] or [name_f]Mya[/name_f], probably [name_f]Maya[/name_f]. For [name_m]Nye[/name_m]-uh, the only one I know spells it [name_f]Nya[/name_f] and is her nickname (real name [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]). [name_f]Niah[/name_f] looks weird to me, like a [name_u]Noah[/name_u] typo, so I would either do [name_f]Naya[/name_f], [name_f]Naia[/name_f], or [name_f]Nya[/name_f]. Either way, most people will probably guess the correct pronunciation, and if you have to tell one or two people the correct way to pronounce, so be it!

The only one I’ve ever known spells it [name_f]Nyah[/name_f], so that feels like a legitimate spelling to me!

I’d spell it [name_f]Naia[/name_f], because it looks like [name_f]Maia[/name_f]. [name_f]Nya[/name_f] looks weird to me. And if some people say it nay-uh the first time, they can be easily corrected. People are going to pronounce things wrong no matter how clearcut you spell it. People could say Nee-uh for [name_f]Nya[/name_f], you never know.

I would go with [name_f]Naia[/name_f].

My vote goes for [name_f]Naya[/name_f] as this directly rhymes with [name_f]Maya[/name_f] – a fairly established name. And I think it looks the prettiest. There might still be some mispronunciation mishaps, but I think it’d be hit and miss and even very straightforward names are mispronounced.

Of your choices, I’d say [name_f]Nya[/name_f]/[name_f]Nyah[/name_f] is the clearest, but looks odd to me.

That was my first thought!

From an international standpoint, [name_f]Naia[/name_f] or [name_f]Naya[/name_f] would have the highest rate of successful pronunciation by non-English-speakers! I like [name_f]Naia[/name_f] best, very pretty

I think you could go with [name_f]Nya[/name_f], [name_f]Nyah[/name_f], [name_f]Naya[/name_f], [name_f]Niah[/name_f] or [name_f]Naia[/name_f]. Maybe [name_f]Naja[/name_f]? I think I like [name_f]Naia[/name_f] or [name_f]Nya[/name_f] the best.

I would go with [name_f]Naia[/name_f]

Ooh I like [name_f]Nyah[/name_f]. Not usually a fan of y’s in the middle of names.

I would vote for [name_f]Naia[/name_f].
