Spelling Help/Advice

So, I love the nn [name_u]Dash[/name_u] for a boy. But I am not necessarily crazy about [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]. I think a lot of it may be because of the spelling… I feel like nobody would ever guess it! Does anyone have any ideas for spelling and/or other ideas of how to get to the nn [name_u]Dash[/name_u] from a full name?

Thanks all!

To get the nickname [name_u]Dash[/name_u], what about using a first name that begins with Da live [name_m]Dante[/name_m], [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], or [name_m]David[/name_m] and a middle name like [name_u]Shane[/name_u] or [name_u]Shaun[/name_u].

[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_u]Shane[/name_u]
[name_m]Dante[/name_m] [name_u]Shaun[/name_u]

So I totally agree with you first of all. Next i think [name_u]Dash[/name_u] stands fine on its own. Pretty sure the son in the movie Incredibles is just [name_u]Dash[/name_u].
I think you could get [name_u]Dash[/name_u] as a nickname from anything. Nicknames don’t have to be from part of your name though many are but you could just call him [name_u]Dash[/name_u] as a nickname regardless of what his name is. As far as other ways to turn it into a more full looking name all I can come up with is
Dasher
Dashton
Dashlyn/Dashlin
Dashick
Dashan

Dasher isn’t bad! I like that one actually. But do wonder if he would mercilessly called a reindeer haha!

What about Dashel? like [name_m]Cashel[/name_m]. Or is that too close to [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]…

I think his full name is [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] or Dashell, because I think I remember the mom saying “[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Parr[/name_m]” when she’s driving him home after he gets called into the principal’s office. I haven’t watched it recently though, so I could just be remembering things.

I agree that you could probably just call him [name_u]Dash[/name_u], but if you wanted it to be a true nickname and give him a more formal name I like the earlier suggestion of using a first name/middle name combination Da---- Sh—. I like nicknames that aren’t totally intuitive sometimes, that seems like a fun way to get [name_u]Dash[/name_u]!

I like [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] a lot myself, though if you’re not so keen I think any name beginning with Da- ([name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_m]Damon[/name_m], [name_m]David[/name_m]) or one that contains both a D and a S ([name_m]Dawson[/name_m], [name_m]Davis[/name_m], [name_m]Darius[/name_m]) would work as a full name for [name_u]Dash[/name_u].

I feel the same way! I think [name_u]Dash[/name_u] is all right on its own, but I also would totally use Dashing.
