Spelling help?

I’m curious - which is the proper spelling: [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] or [name_f]Artemesia[/name_f]? It comes from [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], of course, and [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] is the name of a plant genus. But, and I’m not sure why, [name_f]Artemesia[/name_f] just seems more “name-ish” to me.

It’s [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] in my signature, as a middle for [name_f]Lilith[/name_f].

I’m not sure which one is the “proper” spelling but I prefer [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f]. [name_f]Artemesia[/name_f] looks unfinished to me.

I believe the original spelling is [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f], which is also my preferred spelling. But the name is uncommon enough, I think you could do either spelling.

I prefer [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f].

I also prefer [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f], I find it prettier
Since it’s from the very Greek [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], I would pronounce [name_f]Artemesia[/name_f] the Greek way AKA ar-teh-meh-see-ah not ar-teh-mee-see-ah

I agree with @emmievis about the pronunciation difference. I would definitely pronounce [name_f]Artemesia[/name_f] differently from [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f].

Elaborate, obscure girls names are a weakness of mine, so [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] is high on my lists. ^^ Gorgeous with [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]!

I prefer Artemisia also but I would actually pronounce both the same - ar-teh-mee-szha like amnesia, although saying that puts me off the name. I think [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] alone is the most beautiful form.

I prefer [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f].

Definitely [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] for me, because it comes from [name_u]Artemis[/name_u]. [name_f]Artemesia[/name_f] might be a variant, but it looks wrong to me, because I automatically pronounce it ar-teh-meh-see-ah.

I have seen Artemisia used as the name of a shade of the color green, I also like it’s direct connection to Artemis.
