Spelling nickname for Daisy

I randomly started writing something today, and used [name]Daisy[/name] as a placeholder for a name for one of my characters. She’s English, and so’s the character that she’s dating. (His name is [name]Evelyn[/name], which, pronounced with a long E at the beginning in a posh English accent sounds surprisingly masculine - see Downton [name]Abbey[/name] for reference.)

Thing is, he started calling her Daise in my head. And I’m not sure how it translates to text. Any recommendations for spelling it? Does Daise read like [name]DAYSE[/name]? [name]Dayse[/name] looks wrong. As does Dais… Does Daise look okay? Or should I put my foot down and/or change her name to something with a simpler nickname? Hms…

My name is [name]Laura[/name], and some people call me Laur. I see it that way in my head, but my friend called me it the other day over IM and spelled it [name]Laure[/name].

I think you’d get [name]Dayse[/name] out of Daise, but you could also spell it Daze, like I’m dazed by your awesomeness.

I would go with Daze. It’s the most straight forward spelling. :slight_smile:

Okay, I read “[name]Daisy[/name]” and “[name]England[/name]” and my mind just jumped to [name]Anthea[/name], nn [name]Thea[/name] or [name]Annie[/name]. It means flowerlike, so you’re still keeping that floral feel. Ain’t it pretty? :smiley:
