Which spelling of [name_u]Bayley[/name_u] seems most suitable for a boy to you?
I’m thinking [name_u]Bayley[/name_u] or [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], but am interested to hear opinions…
Would like to use the one that is least likely to be mistaken for a girl.
Though I am personally not a fan of the name, I would go with [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]. It is the original spelling and looks slightly more masculine to my eyes.
I would stick with [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]. At first I misread [name_u]Bayley[/name_u] as [name_f]Baylor[/name_f]. That could have been because I know a fantastic little guy named [name_f]Baylor[/name_f].
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u] for a boy. Modern parents have developed a terrible notion that if they put a random “y” in a name it magically becomes “feminized”. I don’t know where this logic comes from so I would just stick with the original spelling [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] for a son and leave the “yooneek” spellings of [name_u]Bayley[/name_u], [name_f]Bailee[/name_f], [name_f]Baylie[/name_f], [name_f]Baileigh[/name_f] etc…to the girls.
I agree with [name_u]Mischa[/name_u]. [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] is handsome and the only boy [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] I know spells it this way. No matter how you spell it, people are going to have to ask girl or boy because it’s unisex, so spell it correctly and make it a little easier on people
I’d go with [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] though I know [name_u]Bayley[/name_u] is a legitimate spelling of the surname as there are some in my family back in [name_m]Tudor[/name_m] times.
Sorry, but I’ve always thought [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] makes an unattractive, goofy-sounding first name…the fact that the sound is intrinsically probably less feminine than masculine is outweighed by the fact that it’s more popular on girls, even if in a perfect world it wouldn’t be. I like the 2-Y spelling even less, it seems more girly (since people tend to try and femynyze names by replacing other vowels with Y’s) and would get misspelled more. So if you must use it, use [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], but I personally wouldn’t recommend it.
I would say [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] and while it seems to be going to the girls side at least [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] on the TV show Greys Anatomy just named her (t.v) baby [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]! So that at least will remind the t.v wathcing world that it is or can be a boys name!
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u] isn’t my favorite for a boy, but I would definitely prefer it spelled [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]. I prefer the more traditional spellings of names, and especially for a unisex name on a boy - I would assume a [name_u]Bayley[/name_u] was a girl, but I might think [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] could be either boy or girl.
I’m with the others–[name_u]Bailey[/name_u]! It’s one of my very favorite names, and [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] seems to stick out as the one that could be the most masculine. I agree with others that [name_u]Bayley[/name_u] looks like [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] and could be confused for an attempt to make [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] more feminine. I have to say, I’m loving all the [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] love I’ve seen on this thread so far. I would love to have a little boy named [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]!
