I like Beila the best, though the name in general sounds odd to me. I like it better than Bella though.

EDIT : Actually, I just now clicked on the “links” of each spelling, and Baila seems to be the “real” spelling, and it means “dance” in Spanish. I like this version better because it’s an actual name.

I would go with [name_f]Baila[/name_f]. [name_f]Bayla[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Kayla[/name_f], [name_f]Kaylee[/name_f], [name_u]Baylee[/name_u], etc., so looks sort of trendy, and Beila could be mispronounced often.

They’re all actual names, if that helps.

Means “white” or “beautiful” in Yiddish. Yiddish has a different alphabet and when it gets translated into English all three spellings float around, hence my indecisiveness.

I think [name_f]Bayla[/name_f] is the most common spelling I see for this name. I like [name_f]Baila[/name_f] better though.

Ohh, well you have taught me something! Thank you! However I have no idea about Yiddish spelling, so I can’t help you much, sorry!

I have a friend named [name_f]Bayla[/name_f]. She totally wears her name. I think it would be the easiest for people to pronounce. But I like the look and feel of [name_f]Baila[/name_f] better. Beila would be pronounced wrong. But I’m sick of [name_f]Bella[/name_f] so [name_f]Bayla[/name_f] or [name_f]Baila[/name_f] is a cool and different.

I say [name_f]Bayla[/name_f]. [name_f]Baila[/name_f] just makes me think “bail a” and Beila looks too close to [name_f]Bella[/name_f].

I really appreciate all the impressions, especially from people who may not have seen it before. I’m used to looking at it, so I don’t remember that a lot of people will be all “did her mother make that up?”

Oooh, I really like Beila. And ‘baila’ is Spanish for ‘dance,’ just so you know. I’d avoid that spelling, since the Spanish pronunciation is more like “BYE-lah.”

If you want the [name_u]BAY[/name_u]-la pronunciation, I’d suggest [name_f]Bayla[/name_f]. [name_f]Baila[/name_f] is pronounced differently, at least in Spanish.

Well, if you’re going for the Yiddish ties, I would NOT go for [name_f]Baila[/name_f], as I automatically think of the Spanish word for dance (bailar), and I instinctively say it BYE-lah (ish) rather than [name_u]BAY[/name_u]-lah. Personally, I like [name_f]Bella[/name_f] more, but I just really love [name_f]Bella[/name_f]. Between Beila and [name_f]Bayla[/name_f], I feel like Beila’s more clean-cut and classy, but it might be mistaken for [name_f]Bella[/name_f] a lot (it looks quite similar!), or [name_f]Leila[/name_f], or it might be the most likely to be said wrong? I think [name_f]Bayla[/name_f]'s probably your best bet if you want to avoid confusion, but I like Beila the best, I think? Besides [name_f]Bella[/name_f], of course.

I prefer [name_f]Bayla[/name_f].

[name_f]Bella[/name_f] is definitely ahead on votes! Not sure I expected that.

I feel like [name_f]Bayla[/name_f] is the simplest of the others, but not sure if it’s the prettiest. I do see where Beila/[name_f]Baila[/name_f] could get confusing pronunciation-wise though, so that’s a quandary. [name_u]Bay[/name_u] is a likable nickname, I wouldn’t use it alone though.

[name_f]Belle[/name_f] probably should have been included with [name_f]Bella[/name_f].

Thanks for weighing in or voting, everyone. I like seeing the range of opinions.

[name_f]Bayla[/name_f] looks trendy, I’d pronounce [name_f]Baila[/name_f] by-luh, Beila it is.

I was going to vote for [name_f]Baila[/name_f], but I don’t speak Spanish. After reading the posts, I’m going with Beila. I suppose it’ll need a few more explanations than the other spellings, but I like its look, and if I had met a little [name_f]Bayla[/name_f] before reading your thread I would probably have ignorantly assumed her name was a smoosh of [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] and [name_f]Kayla[/name_f].

I love seeing this name brought up! It is my grandmother’s Hebrew name and has lots of meaning to me too. As others have said, [name_f]Bayla[/name_f] and Beila are the best options in my opinions. I’ve never seen the name transliterated as Beila, only as [name_f]Bayla[/name_f] or [name_f]Baila[/name_f], but I find this spelling the most attractive. However, [name_f]Bayla[/name_f] feels the most traditional to me (even though I know that doesn’t make sense). As others have brought up, the [name_f]Baila[/name_f] - Bailar issue Spanish issue turns me off of this spelling, although I really don’t think it it would take much to correct people if you chose this spelling.

I don’t even speak Spanish but all I see when I look at ‘[name_f]Baila[/name_f]’ is the word.
I like [name_f]Bayla[/name_f], because I like [name_u]Bay[/name_u].

But I don’t know… [name_f]Bella[/name_f] is so pretty. I think I’d go with that.

[name_f]Bayla[/name_f]. I can’t for the life of me see Beila vs [name_f]Bella[/name_f]. [name_f]Bayla[/name_f] is straightforward to pronounce and I wouldn’t care at all if it looks like a [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] spin off - if it’s in your family tree, that grounds it.
