Spelling variations

Which do you like? If you dislike a particular spelling - why?

[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]

[name_m]Nikolas[/name_m]

[name_m]Nickolas[/name_m]

[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] - but that’s my brother’s name so I might be biased.

The others are just trying to hard to be youneek to me.

If you live in a country where [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is the standard, then [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is by far the best unless you have a very good reason to go with another legitimate variant. Everyone will want to spell it [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] anyway, so you wouldn’t be doing a boy any favours by forcing him into a lifetime of saying, “Oh, actually it’s with a k instead of an h”.

I do like [name_m]Nikolas[/name_m] ([name_m]Nickolas[/name_m] not so much), but not for an English-speaking country. It just seems like it would cause hassle for no good reason.

I prefer [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] it’s a very nice boys name! I also like [name_u]Nick[/name_u] as a nickname too.
Sorry but the other spellings do look a bit strange and are trying to hard to be out there.

I love [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]! It’s a great name. A second choice would be [name_m]Nikolas[/name_m], which reads as an international variation to me. I think you should choose the spelling that is predominant where you live. Otherwise you are just inviting confusion for no real benefit.

The only one I dislike is [name_m]Nickolas[/name_m] just because it seems like it’s too much. I can understand [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m], or [name_m]Nikolas[/name_m] but for some reason the ck is visually unappealing there.

[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] - I think this is the most traditional spelling and I prefer it most.

If you are going with a classic name, go with the classic spelling.

I’d go with the traditional spelling of [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], anything else looks try too hard.
