My name is [name_f]Luna[/name_f], and it’s nice to meet you all!
Here’s a little bit of my background- my boyfriend and I have been together for 2 and half years. While we won’t be having children any time, we have discussed about hypothetical names for fun! I’m a name geek myself after all.
We had an hard time agreeing on boy names. Until yesterday, [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] aka ‘[name_m]Ace[/name_m]’ was our favourite! But the revelation that [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_u]Finch[/name_u] was racist in [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]'s upcoming novel was a deal-breaker for me. So, it’s time to look for other alternatives.
Here are a few rules we live by-
No biblical names
No names that start with ‘Th’ or ‘[name_f]Lu[/name_f]’
No ‘F’ names
We have so far agreed on names such as [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] and [name_m]Xander[/name_m].
Basically, we like whimsical names that aren’t too out there. Any suggestions?
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
(PS: We are planning to have a dog soon in the future. If it helps, we agreed to name the dog [name_m]Inigo[/name_m] if he was male.)
My main advice would be to reconsider your view on [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], as this new novel is likely never going to compare to To Kill A Mockingbird in terms of popularity or critical acclaim, but here are some suggestions:
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u]
[name_u]Leland[/name_u]
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] (I know you said no F names, but it does fit the bill everywhere else)
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilfred[/name_m]
[name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_m]Oskar[/name_m]/[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Declan[/name_m]
[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m]
[name_u]Lennon[/name_u]
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m]
[name_m]Zayn/name_m/[name_m]Zane[/name_m]/[name_m]Zain/name_m
[name_m]Casper[/name_m]/[name_m]Caspar[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Benedict[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]
[name_m]Stefan[/name_m]
[name_m]Alistair[/name_m]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u]
[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]/[name_m]Lochlan[/name_m]
[name_m]Bruno[/name_m]
[name_m]Maddox[/name_m] (this, like [name_m]Xander[/name_m], does not feel whimsical to me, but more trendy? Regardless, they fit well)
[name_m]Orlando[/name_m]
[name_m]Chester[/name_m]
[name_m]Axel[/name_m]
[name_m]Maksim[/name_m]
[name_m]Brogan[/name_m]
[name_m]Valentino[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]
[name_m]Winston[/name_m]
[name_m]Macsen[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_u]August[/name_u]/[name_m]Augustus[/name_m]
[name_f]Taran[/name_f]/[name_f]Taron[/name_f]
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u]
[name_m]Barclay[/name_m]
There’s a reason why [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] didn’t publish this version (for a long time, is she even agreed with it now), it’s simply not the story she wanted to tell. And the new book doesn’t paint [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] in a different light, it tells the story of a different, a new [name_m]Atticus[/name_m].
Oh, how I love [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] but my bf vetoed it.
It’s funny that you suggested [name_m]Sylvan[/name_m] because I was considering [name_m]Silas[/name_m]. [name_m]Silas[/name_m] is depicted from Sylanus, which is the name of a roman God of forest.
I didn’t realize that [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] has connections to a catholic saint!
