[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries, so baby girl #2 is growing well and I am feeling her kicks in my belly as I type. I’m finally starting to get the kind of imagery and messages I felt with my first daughter, which led me to name her [name_f]Flora[/name_f].
This daughter seems to want to be named for the stars, but I’m not getting a strong sense of which name yet. I do know I want to avoid too popular if possible (i.e. Stella) but I also prefer well-known, easy to spell, sweet spot names that won’t raise eyebrows (like I imagine [name_f]Astra[/name_f] or [name_f]Astraea[/name_f] would).
Am I describing [name_f]Esther[/name_f], perhaps? Interestingly, [name_f]Esther[/name_f] isn’t far from [name_f]Stella[/name_f] in the NZ charts, but doesn’t feature as highly in Aus where we live. I love the idea of [name_u]Starry[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_f]Esther[/name_f], but not so keen on the strong Jewish connotations.
Which starry name would you name Flora’s little sister?

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_u]Aster[/name_u] would be sweet sisters! Other ideas are [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. I also like the idea of [name_f]Esther[/name_f].

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] would be gorgeous!
With [name_f]Flora[/name_f], I’m thinking…
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
Lucy/Helen/Lucia (for the light meaning)
[name_f]Carina[/name_f] (constellation)
[name_u]Celeste[/name_u]
[name_f]Leia[/name_f]
[name_f]Hester[/name_f] ‘Hettie’
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] ‘Star’
[name_f]Constance[/name_f] ‘Star’ (but also, the constancy of stars?)

Sooo gorgeous. I’m always smitten with your daughter’s name
I was childhood friends with a [name_f]Stella[/name_f] whose nickname was [name_u]Starry[/name_u]. Works and is so freakin’ sweet. I like that nickname idea for any star-esque name.
I also love the suggestions of [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. They are perfect! As is [name_f]Esther[/name_f] from your list. Three for three winners.
More “starry” names:
[name_f]Ursa[/name_f]
[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Hesper[/name_f]
[name_u]Seren[/name_u]
[name_u]Sky[/name_u] (middle? love that it goes with sister’s middle as three letters and ending in Y)
[name_u]Dara[/name_u], [name_f]Tara[/name_f]
[name_f]Vela[/name_f]
[name_u]Ara[/name_u]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
[name_f]Astra[/name_f], [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
Antilia
[name_f]Maia[/name_f] (after a specific star in the [name_m]Taurus[/name_m] constellation)
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] (sooooo perfect!!)

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Oriana[/name_f]! (It’s Latin but feels weirdly Australian?)
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Helia[/name_f] (Greek, sun)
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Estella[/name_f]?

I love [name_u]Seren[/name_u] is so beautiful and not obviously celestial.
I also love: [name_f]Soraya[/name_f] nn [name_f]Raya[/name_f] or [name_u]Starry[/name_u]
Good luck!

I love Flora! I also love Esther and I would keep it on your list (as a fellow Aussie!).
Meanwhile, I have a friend who just called her daughter Aster, which is very cool but like Astra feels somewhat more like a brand (Astra is a type of Holden for eg). So hmmm, if not Esther (or Stella), how about Estella, Estelle, Celeste, Seren, Eleanor, or Ursa (bear but a type of constellation)…with the (bird name) Starling as a wildcard!
Edit: Lucette is another option…Flora and Lucette would be a wonderful pair!

Congrats on #2! [name_f]My[/name_f] top pick for this vibe would be [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] which has already been mentioned. You get the E and similarity to [name_f]Esther[/name_f].
Plus, [name_f]Flora[/name_f] + [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] are darling together!
A few other options that may or may not work:
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
[name_m]Aquilla[/name_m]
[name_u]Celeste[/name_u]
[name_f]Selene[/name_f] (Greek goddess of the moon)
[name_f]Danica[/name_f]
[name_f]Starla[/name_f]
[name_f]Roxana[/name_f]
Hopefully these help!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Estella[/name_f] or [name_f]Essie[/name_f]? Not as popular as [name_f]Stella[/name_f], same starry meaning, not so strong Jewish connotations.

how exciting!
i think Aster would be lovely, considering it means star and is also a flower, so it matches with Flora! Esther feels a little underwhelming next to Flora to me, but the names definitely go together. i think Celeste matches the magical feel of Flora perfectly - this would be my pick for you!
personally, i would use Astra or Astrid
