Stella Rain or Sabrina Kelly?

Less than 6 weeks to go and we seem to be dancing around a few finalists for a baby girl to add to our family…We have been calling the baby “[name]Rainbow[/name]”, which is what her brothers named my tummy 7 months ago, but hubby and I are trying to finally come up with the finalists.

At this moment he has vetoed [name]Esme[/name], and I have vetoed [name]Samantha[/name]. Our two compromise names seem to be [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Sabrina[/name]. We also have [name]Reagan[/name] as a strong contender. [name]Kelly[/name] is in honor of a lost friend of mine, [name]Rain[/name] would be in honor of what her brothers named her (we will not be christening her [name]Rainbow[/name])… Thoughts fellow name junkies?

A few things to consider…
Brothers are [name]Jake[/name] and [name]Brody[/name], we live in a beach community, and I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Esme[/name], but can not sell my more traditional husband on it…

Suggestions and comments are appreciated!

I really like [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Sabrina[/name] so it’s tough. Although I think [name]Stella[/name] is my fave, I slightly prefer the combo of [name]Sabrina[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]. I’m not a fan of [name]Reagan[/name].

I know a girl whose middle name is [name]Rainbow[/name] thanks to an older sister !!

[name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Rain[/name] I adore if you like [name]Tabitha[/name].

[name]Saffron[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Amara[/name] [name]Rain[/name]
[name]Estelle[/name] [name]Rain[/name] (you could even call her Es/[name]Esme[/name])

I like [name]Stella[/name] [name]Rain[/name]. I think it goes well with [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Brody[/name], and I love that the mn is a play on what her brothers call her.

[name]Stella[/name] [name]Rain[/name] :).

I’m [name]Sabrina[/name]! I’m in my late twenties now but I’ve always loved my name. Kind of quirky, but with the glamour of the [name]Audrey[/name] Hepburn movie. I really like [name]Sabrina[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] too, very movie star sounding to me, but still down to earth. [name]Esme[/name] is really pretty, shame you can’t convince your husband. I don’t like [name]Reagan[/name]. I dislike unisex names, though, and it reminds me of [name]Ronald[/name] [name]Reagan[/name]. I hate [name]Stella[/name], but that’s just a preference. My sister’s name is [name]Samantha[/name], so I got a real kick out of the fact that you were considering that name as well.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Stella[/name] [name]Raine[/name]

[name]Stella[/name] goes so well with your boys and I absolutely love the sound and meaning of [name]Stella[/name] [name]Rain[/name]!

I like [name]Stella[/name] [name]Rain[/name]! Very pretty!

Of the two, I much prefer [name]Stella[/name] [name]Rain[/name]! [name]Sabrina[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] just doesn’t compare (in my humble opinion).

Good luck!

[name]Both[/name] [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Sabrina[/name] are beautiful names. In listening to your story, however, it seemed like the names that had true meaning for you and your family were [name]Rain[/name] and [name]Kelly[/name], not [name]Stella[/name] or [name]Sabrina[/name].

I don’t want to rock the boat since I know how difficult it is to narrow down a short list, but have you thought about combinations that involve both of the names that are meaningful to you?

There are several gorgeous names that mean ‘rainbow:’

[name]Iris[/name]: in Greek mythology, [name]Iris[/name] is the goddess of the rainbow: she delivered messages from the gods to earth using the rainbow as a road. It has variant forms: [name]Irida[/name], Iridiana, [name]Irisa[/name], and [name]Irita[/name] if you prefer any of those, though I’m partial to [name]Iris[/name].

Enfys: this is a beautiful modern Welsh name meaning, simply, “rainbow.” The only thing that’s tricky is that the f is pronounced like a V, so “en-vees.”

I think either [name]Iris[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] or, more daringly, Enfys [name]Kelly[/name] are beautiful.

Wow, thank you everyone for the feedback. First of all, I always love to hear from people who actually bear the name in question, it helps so much to hear their thoughts and experiences! I also love the name [name]Iris[/name] and considered it, but my married name is greek, three syllables, and ends in “-es” , so I am afraid the flow is not very smooth. As far as Enfys, I love it, but if I can’t sell [name]Esme[/name] to the hubby, I have no chance with it.
I ran [name]Stella[/name] past my 32 year old brother last night and all he could do was imitate [name]Marlon[/name] [name]Brando[/name] in “Streetcar”. I am slightly concerned. I know all names have connotations, but do you berries think this will be a lifelong albatross to my little girl? Being named [name]Dorothy[/name] myself, I know whereof I speak!

[name]Stella[/name] is becoming so popular that I highly doubt that will be an issue. And, most young people won’t have read the play or seen the film to even catch that reference.

Couple of other thoughts:

[name]Noelani[/name]: “mist of heaven” in Hawaiian; [name]Noe[/name] itself means “misty rain”
[name]Ara[/name]: the rain-bringer
[name]Brenna[/name]: “little drop of water;” “dark-haired”
[name]Nada[/name]: “morning dew”
[name]Nala[/name]: as refreshing as a drink of water
[name]Ondine[/name]: a mythological spirit of the waters
[name]Maya[/name] / [name]Mayim[/name]: ‘water’
[name]Nerida[/name]: a water spirit in Greek mythology

I’m a huge sucker for both honor names and underused classics, and I looooove the Old Hollywood glamour of [name]Sabrina[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]–so that definitely gets my vote.

[name]Stella[/name] is climbing up the charts, so I imagine yours wouldn’t be the only one turning around when you call her name down the beach. (Also a reason to rest easy about the Streetcar reference, though!)

[name]Stella[/name] [name]Rain[/name] sounds beautiful!

I’m certain your brother will get over the Streetcar named Desire thing.
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Rain[/name] or [name]Stella[/name] [name]Reagan[/name] would be beautiful.

I think [name]Sabrina[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] is spunkier and slightly more upbeat than [name]Stella[/name] [name]Rain[/name]. [name]Sabrina[/name] also feels a little more feminine than [name]Stella[/name], and that may be nice for a girl with two big brothers.

[i]So we are two weeks out, thank you for all the feedback! We still are still working down to the list that will go with us to the hospital, any day!!
Here are the finalists, I would love your feedback!

[name]Stella[/name] [name]Rain[/name]
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Drew[/name] (after my grandfather [name]Andrew[/name])
[name]Zoe[/name] …possibly [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (after my grandmother [name]Jane[/name]), [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Marie[/name], [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Aurora[/name], [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Rain[/name]…

I’m still open to suggestions of names that you think might be interesting, as we are still decision making and probably won’t decide until we meet her![/i]

As a combo, I like [name]Stella[/name] [name]Rain[/name] better. I think [name]Rainbow[/name]'s adorable. I think [name]Jake[/name], [name]Brody[/name], and [name]Stella[/name] are really great together, too. All around, though, I might prefer [name]Sabrina[/name]? I think either would be great with [name]Jake[/name] and [name]Brody[/name], and either would be great in general. But I think my vote still goes to [name]Stella[/name] [name]Rain[/name].

ETA: Oh, dear, just saw your update. I think I might like [name]Stella[/name] [name]Rain[/name] for you the best, but I personally like [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Zoe[/name] more. I think [name]Zoe[/name] would fit in great with [name]Jake[/name] and [name]Brody[/name], too. I really like [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Rain[/name]. I would love to meet a little [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Aurora[/name]!

Good luck!

Stella Rain
I think that makes my point. I think it’s absolute perfection.

[name]Stella[/name] [name]Rain[/name]!

I really like [name]Isla[/name] too but I don’t like [name]Drew[/name].

I also think [name]Rainbow[/name] would be really pretty as a middle name!
