Hey Berries! Our princess is due VERY soon, and she still does not have a first name! Her middle name will be [name_f]Christina[/name_f] (a combination of our mothers’ names) and our last name is [name_m]Crosby[/name_m]; and together it seems like nothing flows with them! We also are both really picky, but not the same kind of picky. I like old fashioned/vintage names that are not so common and I like to describe my husband’s style as, well, boring.
Some of his favorites: [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Ann[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Susan[/name_f]
Some of my favorites: [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f]
Any ideas of something in between and flow with [name_f]Christina[/name_f] [name_m]Crosby[/name_m]?
Well your styles are indeed very different … I think you need something familiar with a slight vintage vibe
I would suggest …
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Annalise[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]
[name_f]Rayna[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Dinah[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
We both like the sounds of: [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] but we don’t like any of them with [name_f]Christina[/name_f] (and we [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Christina[/name_f] [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] is really C heavy). We’re pretty OCD and perfectionists about flow, so it’s super important that the name flows well to us
I also like [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and think it would flow well with [name_f]Christina[/name_f] and [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] but my husband doesn’t like it
I would stay away from anything ending in ‘a’ due to flow.
I like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Christina[/name_f] [name_m]Crosby[/name_m]…seems like a compromise between your love of [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] and his love of simple classics.
Other ideas based on what you’ve said…
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Eliza[/name_f])
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] a variation of [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f] a variation of [name_f]Ann[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] flows better than [name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] was my first thought and flows so nicely. Too bad he doesn’t like it! I like ee/y endings with [name_f]Christina[/name_f], but those rhyme with [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] (eg [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]). And -a ending names are a bit sing-songy with [name_f]Christina[/name_f]. So that should narrow it down quite a bit! So non -a, non -ee/y endings… a lot of good ones above.
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nora[/name_f] would be perfect too!
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Christina[/name_f] [name_m]Crosby[/name_m]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Christina[/name_f] [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] (or [name_f]Margaretta[/name_f], maybe [name_f]Magdelene[/name_f]? … Lots of nicknames there to suit both of your tastes, too)
I don’t know what your mother’s names are, but I’m guessing one has the nickname [name_u]Chris[/name_u]/[name_f]Chrissy[/name_f] and the other [name_f]Tina[/name_f]? But is it at all possible to switch to [name_f]Christine[/name_f]? I think it would open up your options drastically.
We both like the sound of [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] but we both think it would probably get shortened, mainly to [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] or [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], which we don’t like with [name_m]Crosby[/name_m].
Also, is it strange that we like the sound of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] but not [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]?
[name_m]Just[/name_m] plain [name_f]Rose[/name_f] lacks a little “something” to me, which is why I only like the longer versions of it. We kind of like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] but don’t know if we see ourselves using it. I like [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] a lot but it doesn’t sound good with [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] to me
We like [name_f]Violet[/name_f], but it’s really popular where we live which kind of puts me off
We also like the sounds of: [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]; but each has a problem for us. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] doesn’t flow with [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] to either of us, [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] & [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] don’t flow the best with [name_f]Christina[/name_f] to us, and while we think [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] & [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] are very cute they will almost always be guaranteed to be shortened to [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] which doesn’t flow with [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] (we like [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] & [name_f]Lily[/name_f], just not with our last name).
We kind of like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] but don’t know if we would actually use it (same with [name_f]Alice[/name_f]).
We like the sounds of [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] & [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] but they don’t flow with [name_m]Crosby[/name_m]. And we like the sound of [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] but it almost always gets shortened where we live, and both nicknames ([name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]) don’t flow with [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] to us
Our mothers are [name_u]Christy[/name_u] and [name_f]Tina[/name_f] and changing it to [name_f]Christine[/name_f] kind of takes away from honoring my mother ([name_f]Tina[/name_f]), so we’re definitely set on [name_f]Christina[/name_f]. We like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] but not [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (which probably seems strange). I have a good friend named [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (she goes by [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]) so it would be weird for me to use it for my daughter
He didn’t really give a reason for disliking [name_f]Margo[/name_f] except for just a “No, never”.
That is EXACTLY our problem! You pretty much nailed it on the head; we do not like any -a endings with [name_f]Christina[/name_f] but we don’t like any -ee/y endings with [name_m]Crosby[/name_m].
We still both like the sound of [name_f]Nora[/name_f] (not with [name_f]Christina[/name_f], though) but we don’t like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to get this our before it got too out of hand:
I’d like to apologize if we seem like we’re just trying to say no to all of you. That is not the case at all; as said, we’re both SUPER picky about names and we’re both SUPER picky about the flow of names. And we’re both stubborn, which probably does not help our case. We really appreciate all of the thought and suggestions we are getting and truly sorry if we seem ungrateful or unappreciative. We are not trying to do that at all, my due date is just coming so fast and now we are starting to freak out that we won’t find a first name that we can truly be happy with which I think is making us even pickier.
Maybe [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Christina[/name_f] [name_m]Crosby[/name_m]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] has many nicknames so I am not sure that you like any.
[name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_u]Bell[/name_u]
