Weāre still struggling to name our daughter. Hubby vetoed Ophelia.
Iāve just discovered Everly. I love the way it sounds when I say it. Is it popular?
Any suggestions on middle names? I generally love Hippie, Earthy names.
Another option is River. I love this name and if our daughter had been a boy he would have been River. I know the name is on the rise though.
Any other suggestions. Looking for something beautiful but not too popular.
Everly is lovely, I too really like its bouncy rhythm. It certainly is getting rapidly more popular ā Nameberry recently predicted ā[name_u]Ever[/name_u]ā names as one of the big trends of this decade ā but it depends if that bothers you enough not to use it. I do think itās going to continue to rise for several years yet.
I really love [name_u]River[/name_u]. Itās one of those names that I think will always feel a little quirky and cool to me, no matter how popular it gets.
Maybe youād like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]?
Everly does seem to be fairly popular at the moment and has a ātrendyā feel in my opinion. Itās a very pretty name though and popularity shouldnāt put you off a name you love
I do personally prefer [name_u]River[/name_u] on a boy, but it is so cool and sparky for a little girl too!!
Thank you so much. Im struggling to find names I love so Iāve decided to not let the thought of it being more popular put me off.
Everlina is also really beautiful.
I love [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] too however a close friend has a daughter with this name.
I also love [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] however hubby not so keen
I know (of) a ton of [name_u]Everly[/name_u]ās, so Iād say itās pretty popular - especially if you combine the popularity of all the different spellings.
Itās less fem than [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], but maybe youād like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]? Itās somewhat popular atm (in the US top 200), but a lot less than [name_u]Everly[/name_u].
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] is currently in the top 50 (#43) compared to [name_u]River[/name_u] which is #168 for boys and #214 for girls.
[name_u]River[/name_u] did make a pretty big jump between 2018 and 2019 on the girlās charts, but [name_u]Everly[/name_u] is also still climbing.
None of this is to say what name you should choose. It just sounds like popularity is something you are factoring in so I wanted to give you the data.
If you like [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_u]Everly[/name_u], maybe [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] will appeal to you? (Currently ranked #275 and moving slower than [name_u]Everly[/name_u] or [name_u]River[/name_u] on the charts.)
Others:
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] (#168)
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] (#862) edit: I just say you have a friend with a child already named Elodie, apologies!

Shame about [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] itās such a pretty name!
Suggestions like [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] that you may likeā¦

[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
Everly is such a pretty choice but I think it is gaining in popularity and I think taking into consideration that nameberry predicting [name_u]Ever[/name_u] being one of the biggest trends as @katinka pointed out. I think [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] could be a great alternative if you are concerned about the popularity. Also [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] would be a good option as a go between for [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] & [name_u]Everly[/name_u].
River is a lovely name but I prefer for a boy. I like the idea of [name_u]River[/name_u] as a middle name I think from the names discussed [name_u]River[/name_u] would be a great middle name for [name_u]Everly[/name_u] & [name_f]Odette[/name_f].
Iāve only ever known one [name_u]Everly[/name_u] and always found it pretty, but trendy. While Iāve never met a [name_u]River[/name_u], I feel the same way toward this name.
Was there a reason husband gave about [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] that could help figure out what name?
Based on [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] seeming so like āthe oneā . And the mention of [name_u]Everly[/name_u], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] and [name_u]River[/name_u]
Bay
[name_u]Brooke[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_u]Fable[/name_u]
[name_f]Lana[/name_f] āafloatā or ācalm as still watersā
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]Shannon[/name_u] āwise riverā
Everly River feels almost like an adjective and then a noun. Like, itās a tiny river / homely river / windy river / everly river.
Thinking of how it rolls off of the tongue, itās a little bit cumbersome. Im pretty sure itās because of the consonant work involved in saying the two back to back. The FN has v-r and then the MN has r-v (opposite order). [Ehv ver lee rihv ver].
Everly and Ever have been trending. If popularity bothers you. However, Everlyās cousin, Ellery, is not super popular but sounds phonetically very current.
Super close to Everly is Ellery, and I think Ellery River rolls off of the tongue a little more smoothly and effortlessly.
Thank you so much. Yes weāre still using [name_f]Elfie[/name_f] however happy to have it as a cute family name rather than a shortened version of her chosen name.
Hubby says [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] sounds like āI feel yaā if said in āchavyā accent and.
I do really like [name_u]Everly[/name_u] and [name_u]River[/name_u] but not sure on them together. Iām also considering [name_u]Ember[/name_u].
Lana is beautiful. I just wish it was a little longer. I also really like [name_f]Luna[/name_f] but its so popular here. I wonder if thereās a longer version. Aluna? Have I made that up
Thank you for the suggestion of [name_f]Avalon[/name_f]. That is beautiful. I also visited Glastonbury ([name_f]Avalon[/name_f]) while pregnant 3 times. For the white spring, chalice well and to walk up the tor. Such a magical place. I bathed in the white spring only 2 weeks before our daughter came to [name_f]Earth[/name_f].
I think you would like Stella
As for Ophelia, maybe you would like Odelia as an alternative? Della could be a nice nickname!
For Luna alternatives, maybe Lunette or Luneth
