Story Behind the Name

What is the story behind your username? Is it your own name or something else? Whirligig is the name of my boat!

My real name is [name]Eva[/name], but I’ve been called [name]Genevieve[/name] since I was 8 or 9. And, of course, just plain genevieve was already taken, so i added the exclamation point and genevieve! I was.

Whirligig is an awesome name!

My username has zero significance. I wanted to make an account but I’m terrible at coming up with usernames (strangely enough given the nature of this site), so I just typed out something arbitrary and started posting. It has no relationship to my real name. I sort of like it, though. It could have been worse given how random its creation was.

[name]Cara[/name] [name]Michelle[/name] is my real name. I used to hate it, but now I like it because [name]Cara[/name] is unique yet usable.

My real name is [name]Bethan[/name] [name]Lowri[/name], so I shortened both names and put them together to make Bethlow. It’s not a nickname of any sort it just fitted as a username at the time.

Mine’s my actual name

Triss is a nickname for my name, [name]Tristan[/name].

My name is [name]Kimberly[/name], my Fiance calls me Kib or Kibby.

I am a total theatre nut, musicals and names are my two obsessions! And 23 is my birthdate. Nice thread, Whirligig!

This is so interesting. Another question:

What would you change your username to if you could?

Mine would be radicaldaisy after the felt daisy I sewed onto my school blazer. This has aroused some interesting comments from teachers and a lot of controversy because everybody likes it but its strictly against the uniform code. It has become my symbol of me, my personality and my fight through unfairness.

Mine is a pet name my husband has for me. It has no bearing on my actual name.

Mine pretty much has no significance; when I signed up for Nameberry (I was one of the first ones to register after it was launched in [name]October[/name] 2008!) I thought that “Namefan” sounded cool for one who is interested in names.

Sillysheila: I thought that [name]Sheila[/name] was your real first name before you said otherwise!

I’ve been using mine since I started using the internet. I rarely use anything else, and it’s never taken when I join new groups. It has nothing to do with my actual name, I’m just crazy about redwoods!

Mine is a nickname. The nickname itself comes from the fact that I’m [name]Amber[/name], and I daydream a lot!

mine is my nickname and my kids’ initials. I wouldn’t change it, unless it was just to gigi

My real name is [name]Chantal[/name]. I have a lot of nicknames that I hate: Channy, [name]Tally[/name], Channytally, Show-and-tell, [name]Chan[/name]-short… but Chantillylace is the only nickname I’ve ever been given that I love. It always makes me smile when people sing the song when I tell them my name.

Oh gosh… when I was in middle school my friends and I made way too many AIM screen names. There was a point in time when we wanted them to match. We were big fans of The All-American Rejects, and in one of their songs they use the (common) phrase “[name]Cross[/name] my Ts and dot my Is.” My best friend made a screen name along the lines of [name]Cross[/name] my Ts, and I made one using “dot my Is.” I was worried that if I used one “I” people would read it as “is” instead of the plural of “I”, and in my seventh grade mind adding another “I” was the perfect solution.

I rotated through screen names frequently, and didn’t use that one as my primary screen name for years. Around my junior year in high school I broke up with an over bearing boyfriend, dropped my primary screen name in its entirety, and rediscovered this one.

I saw it in an entirely different light after the 5 years or so that had went by, and I loved having it shortened to “dot” on forums and whatnot. After that point, all of my new screen names were dotmyiis!

And now I have an affinity for the name [name]Dorothy[/name], nn [name]Dot[/name]. :3

[name]Love[/name] this!

Yellow is not particularly significant, which is perfect when anonymity is the goal.

Mine is a shorten form of my old screen name. Suprisingly enough, I was never able to us usagirl… so I adopted usagurl. close enough. 4 is my favorite number and has so much meaning to me.
