Tale as old as time, if we were having a girl I wouldn’t be at a loss.
We used my favourite ‘boy’ name for our son, Blaise, middlename Desmond (to honour a family member, so this isn’t particularly indicative of naming style).
Honestly I feel I have peaked as a namer, but Blaise 2.0 hasn’t polled well for the baby we are expecting
Ideally looking for something similar, not necessarily religious but atleast literary and established as a name for some time, and not in the top 100 in the anglosphere (ideally not in the top 500). Traditionally masculine to gender neutral, but not er ‘punch you in the face’ masculine if you know what I mean.
Not over keen on surnames a given names, or anything that reads strongly USA (no offence, just a British/Australian family, so Dallas isn’t for us). Solidly Anglo-Celtic heritage with some Maltese in the mix, open to other French names but concerned it may look a bit themed.
My top current pick is Lysander, but I don’t know, we’re in a bit of a rut at the moment. EDD is early October, but my son arrived 4 weeks early last time
I really like Lysander - I think it’s a very cool name with some nice nicknames, I’m just a little meh on it as a brother to Blaise. I think they work as brothers, but the thing with Blaise is that, although it has a rich history and is so handsome, it sounds quite modern, and the romantic & elaborate Lysander feels so different.
Some names that might be able to bridge that gap of names with history, but modern-sounding enough to feel like a natural brother to Blaise could be:
Archibald “Archie”
August / Augustus / Augustin / Augustine
Atticus
Ambrose
Cosimo
Cosmo
Cassian
Caspian
Cillian
Casper
Cygnus
Cedric
Calix
Damian
Darcy
Evander
Emrys
Edgar
Finnian
Griffith
Tristan
Ira
Inigo
Leander
Laurence
Locryn
Lucian
Lorcan
Maxim
Marius
Montague / Montgomery “Monty”
Oberon / Auberon
Percy
Phineas
Peregrine
Raphael
Solomon
Sylvan / Silvaine
Valentin
Victor
I absolutely love [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] he’s so handsome, romantic and I think works really well as a brother for [name_u]Blaise[/name_u]. In my opinion [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] & [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] feel wild, romantic and brave.
You’ve had lots of suggestions from @tallemaja so please count any repeats as me being in agreement with this berry
Congratulations on baby boy!! I feel the peak name predicament !!
I will suggest
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] - how do you feel about alliteration
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u]
[name_u]Chandler[/name_u]
[name_u]Landry[/name_u]
[name_m]Severin[/name_m]
[name_m]Gable[/name_m] - could use the nickname [name_m]Gabe[/name_m]
Another vote of encouragement for [name_m]Lysander[/name_m]! [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] and [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] are such a cool set - they share the soft “s” but feel decidedly strong and handsome…and a bit international.
We’re considering [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] as a middle for this little one (first name is Maxwell) and we really love it! The meaning is really cool as well!
+1 [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_m]Bram[/name_m] for short if you like.
[name_m]Lysander[/name_m], [name_m]Conrad[/name_m], [name_m]Crispin[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m], [name_m]Linus[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m] also good. But [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] so established and so underused.
