We are due in [name]January[/name] and do not know the gender so we need to have both gender names picked out.
We have our girl names:
[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Alice[/name] or [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Alice[/name] and are happy and set with them.
We have gone back and forth with these possible names so far:
[name]Malakai[/name] (Husband not sure about this one)
[name]Callum[/name] ( Husbands fav)
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Augustus[/name]/[name]August[/name]
[name]Tiberius[/name]
[name]Caius[/name]
[name]Thelonius[/name]
[name]Ronan[/name]
MN will be Nichols.
We can not use:
[name]Liam[/name], [name]Maximilian[/name](my fav!!), [name]Owen[/name], [name]Angus[/name], [name]Solomon[/name], [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Clement[/name], [name]Riley[/name], or [name]Emmett[/name]. To name a few.
I like nature names, Latin names, and non-den names. Not interested in trendy. Like the idea of a “porch sitter” type name too. Suggestions welcomed! I’ve done polls and gotten nowhere with them. Thanks!!
[name]Malakai[/name] (Husband not sure about this one) - I prefer the spelling [name]Malachi[/name] but in any case I like the rhythm of this name. I know a little boy with this name so it is wearable. Still rare, but wearable.
[name]Callum[/name] ( Husbands fav) - I quite like this name, know an older man with this name, it is wearable.
[name]Asher[/name] - I like this OK but check its popularity trend - I think this is too trendy for your taste (it’s grounded in history, but having a bubble of love right now).
[name]Augustus[/name]/[name]August[/name] - I think this sounds too formal on a baby. The nn [name]Gus[/name] is OK. I don’t love the nn Auggie but if you do, OK. I prefer [name]August[/name] over [name]Augustus[/name]. This honestly seems like it might be trendy too. Not in a -den kind of way, but the -us names are having a moment (like [name]Atticus[/name]). I do think this is more of a nameboard moment than a real one, but still.
[name]Tiberius[/name] - This is too much in my opinion. Sounds like a dictator, and [name]Captain[/name] [name]James[/name] T. [name]Kirk[/name].
[name]Caius[/name] - This is OK. I’d like it with the nickname [name]Cai[/name]/[name]Kai[/name].
[name]Thelonius[/name] - Monk! He makes it somewhat wearable. Nn [name]Theo[/name]? It’s a lot for a baby.
[name]Ronan[/name] - a nice name that is well-matched to [name]Callum[/name].
What about
[name]Cormac[/name]
[name]Rufus[/name]
[name]Tobias[/name]
[name]Matthias[/name]
[name]Thaddeus[/name]
[name]Jonas[/name]
[name]Malakai[/name] - Its alright but I think it clashes with [name]Nicholas[/name]
[name]Callum[/name] - Definitely my favorite from this list
[name]Asher[/name] - NMS, never did like this name for some reason
[name]Augustus[/name]/[name]August[/name] - I like [name]August[/name] a lot, [name]Augustus[/name] would seem like a lot of name for a little boy
[name]Tiberius[/name] - Too much name for a little kid
[name]Caius[/name] - I don’t like this, the look of it is not right
[name]Thelonius[/name] - This sounds harsh to me
[name]Ronan[/name] - Its nice, but not my favorite
My favorite is [name]Callum[/name], but I really like [name]August[/name] too
Malaki - I like this name. It’s one of my favorites. Callum - I don’t particularly like this name, but it’s not my least favorite. Asher - This is also one of my favorite names on your list. Definitely coming into it’s own recently. Augustus/August - I definitely like [name]August[/name] better than [name]Augustus[/name], but if you use [name]Augustus[/name] you can always use [name]August[/name] as a nn. Tiberius - This is too much for a little boy, but could work on an adult. So it’s a possibility. Caius - I like this one too and especially with the nn [name]Cai[/name]. Thelonius - This one is my least favorite. Ronan - This is another favorite! [name]Love[/name] it.
Tiberus was a great [name]Roman[/name] ruler but he was also characterized as dark and reclusive. I think that I would skip that one and [name]Thelonius[/name]. [name]Callum[/name] , [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Ronan[/name] are my favorites.
The greatest issues stem from being a teacher ( all names are used), being the last one of my friends to have a baby, and working in animal rescue for 12+ yrs I have some association with every name out there it feels like.( [name]Archer[/name], [name]Maximus[/name], [name]Tobias[/name], [name]Micah[/name], [name]Thaddeus[/name].)
I agree [name]Tiberius[/name] and [name]Augustus[/name] are big names but we spend not so much time being kids/babies as adults. [name]Tiberius[/name] would be [name]Ty[/name] and [name]Caius[/name] would be [name]Cai[/name], and [name]Augustus[/name] would be [name]Gus[/name] or [name]Augie[/name].
Other names I am liking more and more and should have put on here are [name]Thatcher[/name] and [name]Winston[/name]. WDYT? And thanks for all the feedback!!
I like [name]Augusten[/name] (somehow feels more complete than [name]August[/name] and flows better with mn than [name]Augustus[/name]) and [name]Roman[/name] for you. [name]Winston[/name] is a great idea too–there are lots of great W names, like [name]Wesley[/name], [name]Walter[/name], [name]Wilson[/name], [name]Wilhelm[/name]…
Greek and Latin ideas: [name]Evander[/name], [name]Cyril[/name], [name]Cassius[/name], [name]Theron[/name]
Being a teacher must definitely make picking out names pretty tough.
I really like [name]Caius[/name], nn [name]Cai[/name] - but I believe [name]Cai[/name]/[name]Kai[/name] is quite popular? (Not that that should necessarily put you off!)
I really like [name]Winston[/name]. [name]Ronan[/name] is my next favorite. I think [name]Asher[/name] is a bit trendy. [name]Augustus[/name], [name]Tiberius[/name] and [name]Thelonius[/name] feel like big names to pull off. [name]August[/name], [name]Callum[/name] and [name]Caius[/name] are OK. (The nickname [name]Kai[/name] or [name]Cai[/name] is kind of cute.) [name]Malakai[/name] looks a little feminine to me.
enguerrand: we already decided not to know so we need to be ready either way.
teacherma: [name]Roland[/name], [name]George[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Edmund[/name] are off limits. In theory I like [name]Leopold[/name]. And everyone on here says stay away from [name]Thelonius[/name] as it’s on my list already.
I highly doubt many people make this connection but when I hear [name]Leopold[/name] I think of [name]Leopold[/name] and [name]Loeb[/name], they were famous for murdering a kid and trying to commit the perfect crime in 1924… so definitely not a good association for me.
