He and his family are getting a new girl puppy soon. His mom loves the name [name_u]Shelby[/name_u], but the rest of the family isn’t too keen. Especially my friend, because he associates it with a classmate, but mostly because he feels it isn’t special/unique enough. He prefers kind of out there names from ancient cultures, especially since their other dog was [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]. He really liked the name [name_u]Demeter[/name_u] especially, which I think his famly vetoed. He says he is also interested in Jewish names (as his family is Jewish), flower names, or Victorian names. He definitely wants something unusual that he doesn’t associate with anyone he already knows. His mom also seems to like people names on pets rather than cutesy ones, but likes more contemporary choices. His brother likes Barkley and his dad is indifferent.
[name_u]Shelby[/name_u] could still win out, but just for fun while they wait for the puppy, does anyone have any suggestions blending those styles that the whole family might love?

Update! After months of only considering girl puppies are debating about names, they ended up being offered a boy puppy! Not only that, but his parents decided on a name within hours of finding out it would be a boy. [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] 
[name_f]My[/name_f] friend wishes they’d go with [name_u]Orion[/name_u] (he’s one of us lol) but [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] is cute! And of course the most important thing is that they finally found their puppy.
