suggestions for our list

Hey everyone,
I’m new around here. My husband and I are planning to start our family next year. We have a move coming up at the end of this year so we are trying to get through that first! We have some names picked out, but now I am not sure about all of them.

[name]Nathan[/name] [name]Wade[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
We both love [name]Nathan[/name] but hate that it is so popular. We continue to agree on this name after many changes to the list so we hate to throw it out over popularity. [name]Wade[/name] is my husband’s middle name.
[name]Traven[/name] [name]Monroe[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
My husband loves [name]Louis[/name] L’Amour books and we were having trouble agreeing on other boys names. We found this, which is a surname in one book. We both like it, but I worry that it sounds too made up or trendy. [name]Monroe[/name]… I don’t know. It is a family name of my husband’s family. I cringed over it at first but he really wants to use it. It is either growing on me or I don’t feel like breaking my husband’s heart. I can’t tell which one. I do like that it is unique but it sounds so obviously from another century… I don’t know!
[name]Asher[/name] [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
We both like the name [name]Asher[/name]. It is getting more popular, but not horribly. [name]Maxwell[/name] is one of my grandfathers and we both like it. One name I wish we could use but doesn’t seem to fit anywhere and won’t get priority over [name]Wade[/name] or [name]Monroe[/name] is [name]Paul[/name], my other grandfather.
[name]Ephraim[/name] ?? [name]Sullivan[/name]
We both really like the name [name]Ephraim[/name], but feel the last name sounding so obviously Irish kind of rules it out. [name]Haven[/name]'t picked a middle name because of that.

Girls are hard because we feel that we are throwing out names we actually like more because of their popularity.
[name]Danielle[/name] and [name]Lydia[/name] are names we love that are on the throw out list.

Then we are left with:
[name]Shannon[/name] [name]Michelle[/name]? [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Alayna[/name] [name]Michelle[/name]? [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Cheyenne[/name] ?? [name]Sullivan[/name]
We both like all three first names. I want [name]Michelle[/name] to be a girl’s middle name because it is my sister’s middle name. I am not interested in using my middle name, [name]Nichole[/name]. I think we both actually like [name]Danielle[/name] and [name]Lydia[/name] more than some of these options but they seem too popular. Another possible problem is that we are willing to have a big family. It doesn’t seem like [name]Shannon[/name] and [name]Cheyenne[/name] would be good sibling names… And I wonder if [name]Cheyenne[/name] leans toward a “stripper” name even though I really like it!

And we need to know if the rest of them are good possible siblings!
[name]Nathan[/name], [name]Shannon[/name], [name]Alayna[/name], [name]Traven[/name], [name]Asher[/name], [name]Cheyenne[/name]. ([name]Danielle[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], [name]Ephraim[/name])

Sorry so long but I’d love the feedback! My head is spinning right now from trying to make these decisions… My husband is pretty satisfied with our list of [name]Nathan[/name], [name]Traven[/name], [name]Asher[/name], [name]Shannon[/name], [name]Alayna[/name], and [name]Cheyenne[/name].

Honestly, that list will change many times by the time you conceive and give birth. A lot of times people even change their baby’s name once he or she is born. [name]Don[/name]'t beat yourself up on this right now. Get pregnant first, then start discussing!!

I am fully aware that our list may change but we are planning now because we want to. We already understood we are planning ahead of time and we would like advice on our names, not when to start planning.

I really like [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Ephraim[/name] a lot! And I love the name [name]Lydia[/name]! I think if you love the name, then you should use it!

[name]Hi[/name]!

[name]Nathan[/name] [name]Wade[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]: I like [name]Nathan[/name] a lot! Have you thought about [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]Wade[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]? To me, it flows better than [name]Nathan[/name] [name]Wade[/name] and [name]Nathan[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name], because with [name]Nathan[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name], both names end with N.
(I love your last name, by the way!)

[name]Traven[/name] [name]Monroe[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]: I have to admit that before reading about [name]Traven[/name]'s origins, I wonderd if it was an invented name trying to sound like [name]Trevor[/name]. (That’s just me, though…) I think a first name that doesn’t end with an N would sound really great with your last name.

[name]Asher[/name] [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]: I love [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Maxwell[/name], but not together, because they both start with the same short A vowel sound. (I do love both names, though!)

[name]Ephraim[/name] ?? [name]Sullivan[/name]: I think [name]Ephraim[/name] is a great name!

Some more boys’ names you may like:

[name]Abel[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name] (nn [name]Abe[/name])

[name]Daniel[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Eli[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Jonah[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Micah[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]

Oh! And [name]Ezekiel[/name]…

Vintage and classic names:

[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Elliot[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name] (nn [name]Eli[/name] or [name]Leo[/name])
[name]Everett[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name] (lots of V, though)
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Jude[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Leo[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Milo[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]

[name]Grant[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Graham[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Shepherd[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Tate[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Wyatt[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Walker[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]

I can also see something like [name]Beckett[/name] or [name]Cormac[/name] with [name]Sullivan[/name].

[name]Lydia[/name]: I love [name]Lydia[/name] so much!

[name]Danielle[/name]: [name]Danielle[/name] feels dated to me, but I really love [name]Lydia[/name]! You may also like [name]Danica[/name].

[name]Shannon[/name]: See [name]Danielle[/name]

[name]Alayna[/name]: I think that [name]Alana[/name] and [name]Elaina[/name] are pretty, but the [name]Alayna[/name] spelling looks trendy to me.

[name]Cheyenne[/name] ?? [name]Sullivan[/name]: I’m not personally a [name]Cheyenne[/name] fan. (Because they sound so much alike, I don’t think that [name]Cheyenne[/name] and [name]Shannon[/name] would work as sisters…)

From your list, I love and can see these names together: [name]Asher[/name], [name]Nathan[/name]/[name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Ephraim[/name], and [name]Lydia[/name]. (I also really like [name]Maxwell[/name] as a first name…)

[name]Lydia[/name] is my favorite from your girls’ names, but I can’t see it with any of the other girls’ names because the styles are so different.

Vintage (and classic) names like [name]Lydia[/name] you may like:

[name]Annabelle[/name] (lots of L with [name]Sullivan[/name], though…)
[name]Eliza[/name] (oops…Not with [name]Sullivan[/name]…)

Irish names (and some non-Irish names that remind me of [name]Shannon[/name]'s feel):

[name]Maeve[/name] (Lots of V with [name]Sullivan[/name], but I still think it works…)
[name]Rory[/name] ([name]Rory[/name] could even be a nickname for [name]Aurora[/name]…)

[name]Elle[/name] names you may like:

Take care!

[name]Nathan[/name] [name]Wade[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name] - I really like [name]Nathan[/name]
[name]Traven[/name] [name]Monroe[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name] - not sure about this one, [name]Monroe[/name] is cute
[name]Asher[/name] [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name] - I [name]LOVE[/name] it.
[name]Ephraim[/name] [name]Paul[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name] - not a fan of [name]Ephraim[/name], but I think it sounds great
[name]Shannon[/name] [name]Michelle[/name]? [name]Sullivan[/name] - too many /sh/ sounds, not my favorite
[name]Alayna[/name] [name]Michelle[/name]? [name]Sullivan[/name] - not my favorite
[name]Cheyenne[/name] ?? [name]Sullivan[/name] - I don’t really like [name]Cheyenne[/name]
I like your boys’ names but not your girls’ names. I would try something more unusual for girls.

Thanks so much everyone! This is getting us moving again… we were kind of stuck and dissatisfied. I have to run all of this by hubby still! He is going to shoot me haha.

New boys list (not combined as fn and mn yet.)
[name]Nathaniel[/name] ([name]Nathan[/name]) [name]Wade[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name] is almost sure to be baby boy #1… I think we will be in TTC mode later this year!

New girls list
[name]Alaina[/name] or [name]Elaina[/name]

whew! We are getting there though! I know the list grew but we are getting closer to one direction instead of 50 directions. :o)

Thanks again!
[name]Carly[/name] (and [name]Aaron[/name])

[name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]Wade[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name] would have better flow than [name]Nathan[/name] [name]Wade[/name], in my opinion. Call him [name]Nathan[/name] if it suits you, or [name]Nate[/name]…

[name]Asher[/name] and [name]Ephraim[/name] are sturdy names that certainly aren’t popular, but I prefer the classic [name]Nathaniel[/name]. It is on my personal list, actually. [name]Traven[/name] looks a bit tryndee and made-up, honestly.

If you love [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Danielle[/name], then use them. [name]Lydia[/name] isn’t THAT popular! [name]Danielle[/name] really isn’t that popular, either, and I might go as far as to say it is dated. Sorry! [name]Lydia[/name] is my absolute favorite girl’s name, too, and I don’t plan on letting popularity stand in my way.

To be honest, the combination of [name]Shannon[/name] [name]Michelle[/name] sounds very dated, as in a name I might expect on a thirty-year-old woman, not a child. [name]Cheyenne[/name] isn’t too popular, and I can’t decide if I think it is dated or not. [name]Chris[/name] [name]Robinson[/name] just welcomed a daughter, [name]Cheyenne[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name], though, so the name has entered the celebri-sphere. [name]Alayna[/name] is…fine…but I would prefer [name]Alaina[/name] or even [name]Elaina[/name] to the strange [name]Alayna[/name] spelling.

I think [name]Nathaniel[/name] and [name]Lydia[/name] would make a great sibling set - well, obviously I do, as they are both on my short list of names for future children. [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Ephraim[/name] would work well, too. I suppose [name]Traven[/name] and [name]Alaina[/name] would work, too, but I personally don’t care for [name]Traven[/name] at all. Sorry!

I would recommend:

[name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]Wade[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name] “[name]Nathan[/name]”
[name]Ephraim[/name] [name]Paul[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Michelle[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]

For another girl name that fits, what about [name]Alice[/name] or [name]Allegra[/name] instead of [name]Alayna[/name], or even [name]Elena[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], or [name]Eloise[/name]. Instead of [name]Cheyenne[/name] and [name]Shannon[/name], you could try [name]Charlotte[/name] or [name]Susannah[/name].

Good luck!
