We will welcome our daughter in February and right now we have so many names floating around that I am completely at a loss.
My husband is [name]William[/name] [name]Collins[/name] [name]Callahan[/name] ([name]Will[/name]). My name is [name]Aimee[/name] [name]Adele[/name]. Our sons are six year old [name]Jesse[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] and soon-to-be five year old [name]Lucas[/name] [name]Todd[/name].
My husband and I are both named after relatives - [name]Collins[/name] was his mom’s maiden name and [name]Adele[/name] is my grandmother’s name.
Our son’s are also named for relatives - [name]Jesse[/name] was my grandfather’s name and [name]Todd[/name] is [name]Will[/name]'s favorite uncle.
So we definitely want to continue the trend of namesakes. As you can see we like rather short names that aren’t super-trendy.
But we are stumped for a girl’s name that will go with [name]Jesse[/name] and [name]Luke[/name].
One of my co-workers once told me that [name]Jesse[/name] [name]Callahan[/name] and [name]Luke[/name] [name]Callahan[/name] sounds like “cowboy” names. Believe me - having cowboy names (whatever that means) is the last thing we intended. Her comment has stuck with me though and now I fear we will choose something that screams “cowgirl”!
BTW - Girl’s names that have already been used in our family are: [name]Rose[/name] (2 of them), [name]Lilith[/name], [name]Meghan[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Christine[/name], [name]Audra[/name] and [name]Hope[/name].
Family members are bombarding us with suggestions but nothing seems to suit. Would love to hear what you folks have to say.
I don’t know if you boys’ names scream cowboy necessarily, but they do have a hint of it in them.
As for your girls options:
[name]Rose[/name] - I love [name]Rose[/name]! But in would advise against using it as a middle name because it is so common.
[name]Lilith[/name] - Very cute, but sometimes I think it’s too close to the more popular [name]Lillian[/name]. But the nn [name]Lily[/name] is so cute.
[name]Meghan[/name] - It is okay. I’ve never been the biggest fan of this name.
[name]Claire[/name] - I like it. I think it would work very well as a middle name.
[name]Caroline[/name] - I love this name! [name]Both[/name] elegant, graceful, classic, and adorable.
[name]Christine[/name] - I feel like this is a little outdated. I can only see 40-year-old women with this name in my mind.
[name]Audra[/name] - I think this a lovely choice. “Old” names are coming back in fashion, although this doesn’t seem old at all. It’s very beautiful and you get the nn [name]Audrey[/name].
[name]Hope[/name] - Simple and sweet. A good choice.
