Suggestions please!

Hello Naming-friends!
I am looking for a name for our fourth child, who may-or-may-not be a boy (I’ll be listing on the girl’s page too, gathering ideas!) - I like a surprise after the ordeal of labour!!! BUT I like to have a name for each gender ready to go!

But of course there are complications… that’s why I’m picking your brains!

Other limitations:
My husband is fussy and traditional (as well as being loving and helpful and gorgeous!)
My surname ends with an “s” and I don’t like the sound of a first name and a last name both ending with “s” as it makes me feel like I’m lisping! (ok, I’m fussy too!)
I like longer names that have a variety of nickname potential (I think that stems from have a short name and no nicknames when I was growing up!)

Here are some names I have been thinking about (some have NOT been approved of by my husband!)

[name]Edward[/name] ([name]Ned[/name], [name]Ed[/name])
[name]Frederick[/name] ([name]Freddy[/name], [name]Fred[/name]) - [name]Do[/name] you pronounce this [name]Fred[/name]-rick or [name]Fred[/name]-er-ick? I’ve often wondered! But I love [name]Fred[/name] and [name]Freddie[/name]!

Other names which I like but I can’t particularly think of nicknames… can you?
[name]Dylan[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name] (I wouldn’t like “[name]Jaz[/name]” as a nickname though) I like this name

[name]Way[/name]-out names I love but probably will never talk my husband into it:
[name]Leopold[/name] ([name]Leo[/name]!)

I like that the names that we have all have some similar sounds (all have “a” and “l”). They do all start with vowels, but if I limit my choice to vowel-starting names, I’ll never find a name!!!

Thank you in advance for your time and thoughts!

I like [name]Edward[/name] a lot. [name]Edmund[/name] is slightly different and a lot of fun (my favorite [name]Austen[/name] hero and my favorite [name]Narnia[/name] kid). I say [name]Frederick[/name] like “[name]Fred[/name]-[name]Rick[/name].” I have never heard of anyone who went by the full name though so they would probably be [name]Freddie[/name]. [name]Fred[/name] is just a little to [name]Nancy[/name] [name]Drew[/name] for me. You have some well named children and nephews so anything in this vein can’t go wrong.

[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Maxwell[/name]
[name]Anderson[/name]
[name]William[/name]
[name]Emmanuel[/name]
[name]Eamon[/name]
[name]Aaron[/name]
[name]Jonas[/name]
[name]Matthias[/name]
[name]Julian[/name]

I think [name]Edward[/name] is perfect! Goes great with sibs. Here ar a few others that would work:

[name]Timothy[/name]
[name]Zachary[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Phillip[/name]
[name]Nicholas[/name]

I say [name]Fred[/name]-rick. I don’t think [name]Dylan[/name] or [name]Jasper[/name] need nicknames. TBH I don’t think ALL names need nicknames unless they are long names. Also, love [name]Leopold[/name]!

Sorry if any of these were mentioned already, but here are some suggestions (with nns if applicable):
[name]William[/name] ([name]Will[/name], [name]Willy[/name], [name]Bill[/name], [name]Billy[/name], [name]Liam[/name])
[name]Julian[/name] ([name]Jule[/name], [name]Ian[/name])
[name]Simon[/name] ([name]Si[/name]? Like [name]Cy[/name]?)
[name]Benjamin[/name] ([name]Ben[/name], [name]Benny[/name])
[name]Henry[/name] ([name]Hank[/name], though I don’t like this nn at all)
[name]Samuel[/name] ([name]Sam[/name])
[name]Isaac[/name] ([name]Ike[/name], [name]Zac[/name])
[name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Theo[/name], [name]Ted[/name], [name]Teddy[/name])
[name]Noah[/name]
[name]Daniel[/name] ([name]Dan[/name], [name]Danny[/name])
[name]Nathaniel[/name] ([name]Nate[/name], [name]Nathan[/name], [name]Niel[/name])
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Matthew[/name] ([name]Matt[/name], [name]Matty[/name])
[name]Emmett[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name] ([name]Gabe[/name])
[name]Sebastian[/name] ([name]Ian[/name])
[name]Elliott[/name]
[name]Zachary[/name] ([name]Zach[/name])
[name]Adrian[/name] ([name]Ian[/name]?)
[name]Patrick[/name] ([name]Pat[/name], [name]Rick[/name], [name]Ricky[/name])
[name]Christopher[/name] ([name]Chris[/name], [name]Topher[/name])

Thanks for the responses!
sparrowfinch, I love [name]Austen[/name] and [name]Narnia[/name] books too
I like [name]Maxwell[/name] - I like the “x” in the middle I have always loved [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Daniel[/name] as names, but really didn’t think ahead when we named our girls when we came to the third child, I didn’t know if it would be going too far to have three names ending with a l in the same sibling set… what are people’s thoughts?

boyandgirl, Thanks for your support for [name]Edward[/name] and your list!

Jennipea382, Thanks for your list! I [name]DO[/name] love [name]Leopold[/name]! From your list, I love [name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Theo[/name], [name]Ted[/name]), [name]Owen[/name], [name]Elliott[/name] and [name]Patrick[/name]. There were the names ending with “l” too, which I love but wonder if it’s too much with my girl’s names both ending in l.

So - My list currently stands at:

[name]Edward[/name], [name]Frederick[/name], [name]Dylan[/name], [name]Jasper[/name], [name]Leopold[/name], [name]Elliott[/name], [name]Owen[/name], [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Patrick[/name], and [name]Felix[/name] (Name I just remembered how much I liked, but also unlikely to be accepted by husband).

Names I also love, but not sure about the “l” on the end - [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Maxwell[/name].

I love thinking about names! It is one of the fun things being pregnant, imagining who it is that is growing inside you and what they are going to be like… and what they are going to be Named!!! (luckily, I don’t get morning sickness!)
