Hello,
I am currently working on a story where the ruler, the royal family, of a nation has the same surname as the name of the kingdom, and I am looking for suggestions as to what this shared name should be.
I am looking for something that sounds slightly uncommon and possibly share some relation to ‘god’, ‘sacred’, ‘holy’, and the likes.
Characters hailing from this kingdom have names such as ‘[name_u]Flynn[/name_u]’, ‘Aleria’ and ‘Lyris’.
I was also wondering if anyone could tell me if countries that share its name with its ruler exists, it if ever did exist, or if it is merely something that happens within fiction stories. I’ve seen names that contain ‘von’, ‘di’ and similar terms between the name and the ‘surname’, which I understand are known as nobiliary particle. Does that have something to do with it?
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] hi!
Not 100% sure about this, but I believe that the Byzantine Empire was named in honor of it’s fallen [name_m]King[/name_m]. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to fact check me, I just remember hearing something like this at one point or another!
Regardless, it’s your world that you are creating so there are absolutely no rules what-so-ever, do whatever you want!
Adag - pure, sacred
Bilva - sacred leaf
Castalia- sacred fountain
Dampa - sacred
Devain - religous, spiritual, Holy
Eckerd - connected to God
Kalappan - God of the moon
Pavani - sacred and cleansing of sins
Ritam - beautiful, divine truth
All of these could probably be tweaked and modified to make them either a last name or a kingdom name! Let me know what you think! Good luck! [name_f]Happy[/name_f] naming/writing!
Thank you for your suggestions, as well as the answer to my question. I think I’ll go search up a little about it.
I’m currently leaning towards Castalia and Devain, and I’ll take your suggestion with tweaking names a little.
