Surprise, I'm pregnant! Now we need some names...

DH and I just found out we will have another lo in [name]April[/name]. While totally unexpected, we are thrilled! I know it’s still early, but we’ve already started the name lists.

Our daughter’s name is [name]Miriam[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]

We won’t find out the sex of the baby, so we need boys and girls names.

So far our list includes:

[name]Wilhelmina[/name] ([name]Willa[/name])
[name]Frances[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name]

Middle name will be a family name, so far on the list:
[name]Margarett[/name]
[name]Jean[/name]
[name]Kelly[/name]
Navarra

For a boy, [name]Dominick[/name] will be either the first or middle name, but either way, he will go by the other name.

[name]Atticus[/name]
[name]Luca[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]

I’m not sure if I’m totally in love with any of our girl names, but I do like all of them. If DH was okay with just [name]Willa[/name], I think that would be the winner, I’m just not so sure about [name]Wilhelmina[/name].

I’m favoring [name]Luca[/name], he’s favoring [name]Atticus[/name]. I’m just concerned [name]Atticus[/name] is becoming more and more popular??

Thanks for any suggestions for other names, or opinions on the names already on our lists!

You’re considering some great names!

[name]Wilhelmina[/name] ([name]Willa[/name]) – [name]Wilhelmina[/name] has a nice sound, but I don’t really like the way the name looks when written. I agree that [name]Willa[/name] is better. [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Miriam[/name] are so nice together too!
[name]Frances[/name] – I can’t picture this name on a baby/little girl. It just sounds too old to me.
[name]Juliette[/name] – This is pretty! Nms, but classic and nice!
[name]Beatrix[/name] – See above.

Middle name will be a family name, so far on the list:
[name]Margarett[/name] – This is a cool spelling that would work well in the middle!
Navarra – This name sounds so lovely!

For combos, I like:
[name]Willa[/name] [name]Margarett[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] Navarra
[name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name] Navarra

Some other names you might like:
[name]Willow[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Della[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]

The boys names aren’t my style, so I don’t have great ideas for those.

[name]Juliette[/name] is my favourite from you girls names, and I think [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] is great! [name]Miriam[/name] and [name]Juliette[/name] go well together. Second choice would be [name]Beatrix[/name] Navarra.

If [name]Dominick[/name] is going to be part of the name, but he won’t be called by it, I think it’s always easiest for it to be in the middle. So, I like [name]Luca[/name] [name]Dominick[/name] the best. Second choice would be [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Dominick[/name]. (I just don’t like [name]Atticus[/name] at all, sorry)

I think [name]Beatrix[/name] is a really cute name, and one I would use if my husband were a bit more adventurous. Still, [name]Willa[/name] is really calling to me, but I agree about [name]Wilhelmina[/name]. It is a bit of a mouthful, and not nearly as feminine and pretty as [name]Willa[/name] (plus, [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Miriam[/name] really do sound nice together). I wish I could come up with another name that [name]Willa[/name] would suit as a nn, but I can’t.

As far as the boy names go, I really like [name]Dominick[/name], though I prefer the [name]Dominic[/name] spelling. It seems that [name]Atticus[/name] is the trend right now, so while it’s a good name, I’m with you on [name]Luca[/name]. [name]Miriam[/name] [name]Katherine[/name] sounds better with [name]Dominick[/name] [name]Luca[/name] (assuming you don’t mind being called a middle name).

[name]Willa[/name] [name]Frances[/name] is my favorite!

With [name]Miriam[/name], my favorites from your list are [name]Willa[/name], [name]Frances[/name], and [name]Beatrix[/name] for a girl, and [name]Dominick[/name] or [name]Arthur[/name] for a boy. [name]Wilhelmina[/name] is really long and the mina is similar to [name]Miriam[/name], so I would just go with [name]Willa[/name]. [name]Juliette[/name] seems frilly next to [name]Miriam[/name], so I would only use that for a mn.

[name]Willa[/name] [name]Frances[/name]
[name]Willa[/name] [name]Juliette[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name] Navarra
[name]Frances[/name] Navarra
[name]Frances[/name] [name]Jean[/name]

[name]Arthur[/name] [name]Dominik[/name]
[name]Dominik[/name] [name]Atticus[/name]
[name]Dominik[/name] [name]Luca[/name]

Some other names you might like and which I think work really well with [name]Miriam[/name] are:

[name]Avis[/name]
[name]Dorothy[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Edith[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Felice[/name]
[name]Irene[/name]
[name]Lenore[/name]
[name]Leonie[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Nadia[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Sybil[/name]
[name]Sylvia[/name]

[name]Alfred[/name]
[name]Conrad[/name]
[name]Edwin[/name]
[name]Frederick[/name]
[name]Gilbert[/name]
[name]Ivo[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Oscar[/name]
[name]Philip[/name]
[name]Roland[/name]
[name]Stephen[/name]
[name]Thaddeus[/name]

[name]Frances[/name] Navarra or [name]Willa[/name] [name]Margarett[/name] would be my first picks for girls! [name]Love[/name] 'em. I don’t think [name]Frances[/name] is too old; nn [name]Franny[/name], Francy or [name]France[/name], [name]Fancy[/name], [name]Fritz/name, and good old-fashioned [name]Annie[/name] give plenty of lighter nicknames. I love [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Miriam[/name], but find [name]Wilhelmina[/name] a bit over-bearing. [name]Juliette[/name] is a runner up. I like [name]Beatrix[/name], but I don’t feel like it fits with [name]Miriam[/name] quiiite as well.

I disagree about [name]Atticus[/name] vs. [name]Luca[/name]. I might call [name]Atticus[/name] a bit over-hyped rather than trendy: I know it has been rising quickly, but it is only ranked in the mid 400s. I find [name]Luca[/name] more on-trend: ranked at #260, it is more popular and still slowly climbing, and [name]Hilary[/name] [name]Duff[/name] just named her son [name]Luca[/name]. Its cousins, [name]Luke[/name] and [name]Lucas[/name], are ranked at #39 and #29 respectively, so [name]Luca[/name] feels to me like another alternative (albeit a classy, handsome one). What I mean by all this isn’t that I dislike either one; I just don’t find [name]Atticus[/name] more overused or trendy than [name]Luca[/name].

I agree with a pp that if [name]Dominick[/name] won’t be used, then it should go in the middle. I like [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Dominick[/name] best (regardless of the above paragraph, haha). I think [name]Luca[/name]'s sleek Italian/European style jars a bit with understated, vintage [name]Miriam[/name]. I like [name]Atticus[/name] better with it style-wise, but I understand concerns about its sudden spurt of popularity. [name]Arthur[/name] meets and complements [name]Miriam[/name]'s great qualities, and has a fun literary history! I [name]LOVE[/name] the potential pet name [name]Bear[/name], too! I am totally for [name]Arthur[/name].

Lots of good suggestions. I would add/second [name]Lorelei[/name] or [name]Laurel[/name], [name]Lucille[/name], [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Anneliese[/name], [name]Elinor[/name], [name]Susan[/name] or [name]Susannah[/name], [name]Ramona[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name]/[name]Dorothea[/name] (nn [name]Thea[/name]?), [name]Helen[/name], [name]Elise[/name], [name]Hazel[/name] or [name]Georgia[/name] as well as [name]Conrad[/name], [name]Vincent[/name] or [name]Victor[/name], [name]Harris[/name] (nn [name]Harry[/name]), [name]Charles[/name] (nn [name]Arlo[/name]), [name]Frederick[/name], [name]Franklin[/name], [name]Asa[/name], and [name]Everett[/name] (nn [name]Ever[/name], Rev, or [name]Rhett[/name]), [name]Garrett[/name], or [name]Barrett[/name].

[name]Juliette[/name] Navarra

[name]Luca[/name] [name]Dominick[/name]

Thanks, Ladies!

I’m in [name]LOVE[/name] with [name]Willa[/name] [name]Margarett[/name], I just have to get DH on board. I will also be adding [name]Edith[/name], [name]Cora[/name], [name]Ramona[/name], [name]Sybil[/name], and [name]Lucy[/name] to my list of girl names.

I love the idea of [name]Atticus[/name] [name]Dominick[/name], I’m just on the fence with it’s rise in popularity so quickly. The spelling of [name]Dominick[/name] will stay, as it is a family name. Good point about [name]Luca[/name] and [name]Miriam[/name] maybe not going as well together.

I really don’t care if we have a boy or a girl, I just hope we can find some more boy names that we like!
