Our second and last baby is due this [name]March[/name] and we think we’ve decided on our final two names and we will just bring them to the hospital with us. I have a guilty pleasure name, as I’m sure we all do, and I feel like if I don’t use it, I’ll have name remorse when she gets here. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Susannah[/name]. I just find it so soft and subtle but still grounded. I haven’t brought up the name because I feel like it will be shot down by my husband. [name]Do[/name] you think [name]Susannah[/name] is usable? Can you give me some middle name ideas? I like the idea of having two middle names. Here is a list of names we like- Nameberry - Welcome to the Nameberry Forums
We aren’t limited to just those names but they would probably ease my husband into letting me use the name. We have a son named [name]Charles[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] “[name]Charlie[/name]”
Has anybody else ran into this problem? Did it work out for you?
[name]Just[/name] for fun- What’s your guilty pleasure name?
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Mae[/name] [name]Eden[/name] or [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Eden[/name] [name]Mae[/name] would be my top two picks using your choices.
Personally, I wouldn’t hold back on mentioning it. If it’s one of your favorites, I’d at least throw it out there.
I guess my guilty pleasure name would be [name]Indiana[/name]. I [name]LOVE[/name] it for a girl. However, I’d never actually use it because I’m not an [name]Indiana[/name] State fan and I don’t have a reason to be a particular fan of the state in general. That and the whole [name]Indiana[/name] [name]Jones[/name] making the name feel more manly than feminine for most people. However, I love the sound, flow, nicknames and everything else about [name]Indiana[/name]. However, due to the reasons I mentioned, it will most probably stay just a ‘guilty pleasure’ and I wouldn’t ever use it.
I love [name]Susannah[/name]! I think it feels like a nice, comfy, homemade quilt of a name. You should definitely mention it. If you’re both unsure of the two names you’ve chosen, maybe this one would break the tie. Also, it has “[name]Anna[/name]” in it, which is one of your family names and part of one of his favorite names, and it means “[name]Lily[/name],” which is on his list.
[name]Susannah[/name] is definitely the most usable [name]Sue[/name] name, I would think. It does have a sweet sound to it and would seem a little refreshing now days to hear it.
[name]Susannah[/name] is definitely usable… as long as you are all prepared for having everyone sing “Oh [name]Susannah[/name]” all the time (I know from experience). Let your DH know that it means graceful [name]Lily[/name] -since [name]Lily[/name] is on his list. Although, some people say it means “rose” -it depends if they know old Hebrew or the modern equivalent.
I really like any 3-2-1 or 3-1-2 syllable combo for example:
Susannah Noelle Eve
Susannah Louise Eve
Susannah Mae Louise
(I REALLY like Susannah Louise & Susannah Mae)
Susannah Elizabeth Mae works well too, flow-wise.
My GP name is [name]Gwendolyn[/name]. It’s so pretty, but I’m not sure that I would ever use it. It seems like an awful lot of name for a little person. I also really like the names [name]Theodore[/name] & [name]Adelaide[/name], but I don’t think I can use them -[name]Theo[/name] because it rhymes with our last name (in fact when we say our last name, people sometimes think we’ve said "[name]Theo[/name] instead or they think that’s my DH’s fn!) and [name]Adelaide[/name] because my in-laws butcher the pronunciation and manage to make it sound ugly
I think [name]Susannah[/name] is a great name choice. I haven’t heard it on anyone in quite some time. To me it feels warm and cozy. I liked shellezbellez’s description about the homemade quilt feel. Definitely accurate for me.
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Noelle[/name] and [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Mae[/name] ([name]Susannah[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] [name]Mae[/name]? Too sweet?) both appeal.
Also, is the [name]Peggy[/name] in your list of family names short for [name]Margaret[/name]? Because [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] is one I like as well.
My husband didn’t like [name]Susannah[/name] either until I told him we could call her [name]Sosie[/name]. Perhaps your husband would like that spunky nickname option.
Everyone says that [name]Susannah[/name] is “dated” but I don’t think so. I don’t believe in “dated” names and I think the insinuation is ridiculous. I love [name]Susannah[/name] and love the nn [name]Suzie[/name] or [name]Zuzu[/name]! I would use it
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Susannah[/name]! So many nickname options!
I suggest mentioning the name with one of your husband’s favorite names as a middle. [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Violet[/name] is beautiful. I Also think that [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Noelle[/name] and [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Louise[/name] work very well.
another yay for [name]Susannah[/name]!!
It’s such a bright cheery name and I would love to meet a baby [name]Suzie[/name] some day.
[name]Susannah[/name] Lousie has been a guilty pleasure of mine for awhile so I’m definitely on board for it. If you love it go for it. [name]How[/name] fun would it be to have a nursery decorated with clouds and suns for your little ray of sunshine
I love [name]Susannah[/name]. I think it’s one of the “[name]Sue[/name]” names that sounds very stylish and fresh. I think the nickname [name]Susie[/name] is adorable.
I totally [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Susannah[/name]. I especially like the pp’s suggestion of [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Violet[/name] [name]Eve[/name].
If I was naming a baby girl right now, I would go with [name]Susanna[/name] [name]Eve[/name] or [name]Susanna[/name] [name]Elise[/name]. ([name]Elise[/name] is my grandmother’s mn.)
