I love the name Suzie!! I think it’s sweet and definitely wearable. Thelma is not one of my “I love it” names, but I don’t hate it. I could definitely see it making a comeback!! Were you thinking each as first names or a first and middle?
@Kittylitter: Thank you! I’m thinking about [name_f]Suzie[/name_f] and [name_f]Thelma[/name_f] as first names.
I love Susanna and think Suzie could be a cute nickname
@Marissabunz: Thank you. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], sorry. It sounds like a modern version of [name_f]Susan[/name_f].
[name_f]Suzie[/name_f] is cute. It definitely fits in the current trends of vintage names and nickname names. Personally I prefer it as a nickname, but it’s definitely usable and wearable as a full name.
Edit: as for Thelma, I’m not a fan. It just doesnt have a nice sound to me
[name_f]Suzie[/name_f] is a sweet, spunky name! I personally prefer it as a nickname, but it’s perfectly usable.
As for [name_f]Thelma[/name_f], I do think it still sounds quite dated, à la [name_f]Selma[/name_f] and [name_f]Velma[/name_f], so I’m not sure if it’s quite ready to come back yet.
I don’t mind [name_f]Suzie[/name_f], but I think of it as a nickname only. I think if her legal name was just [name_f]Suzie[/name_f], she’d forever be explaining that it’s not “short for something”.
I’m not a fan of [name_f]Thelma[/name_f] at all, sorry.
[name_f]Suzie[/name_f] is definitely a nickname to me. I have a cousin [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] who has always been [name_f]Suzie[/name_f]. It is a bit outdated but not so badly that it’s unusable.
As for [name_f]Thelma[/name_f], that is a little too outdated for my taste.
I feel neutral about [name_f]Suzie[/name_f]. I think it’s wearable. It feels very 70/80s personally to me. I feel it’s more of a name that has quietly sat around and doesn’t fit in the category of the old lady names but isn’t a classic either. If that makes sense.
Edited to add that I feel neutral about [name_f]Thelma[/name_f]. I think it’s perfectly wearable just not one I personally would use.
[name_f]Suzie[/name_f] to me is primarily a nickname for [name_f]Susan[/name_f] or [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f]. It strikes me as a being a bit of a “mom” name but I think it’s wearable and has a sweet sound.
[name_f]Thelma[/name_f] is NMS. To me it sounds old-fashioned but not in a good way.
I love [name_f]Suzie[/name_f]! I heard it when I was younger and still feel the same about it today. Its spunky but very elegant, imo.
It can definitely be a stand alone name. I also like it as a nn to [name_f]Susan[/name_f].
[name_f]Thelma[/name_f] I love as well, but I’m not sure they have the same “vibe”. Both are vintage, but they sound like they’re from different eras.
Really not a fan of [name_f]Thelma[/name_f], it sounds so dated. [name_f]Suzie[/name_f] is alright. My favorite spelling is [name_f]Suzy[/name_f], followed by [name_f]Susie[/name_f].
[name_f]Suzie[/name_f] is adorable. I sense a comeback for it soon, especially with [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and the like on the rise. Also, there’s a character in Stranger Things now I believe named [name_f]Suzie[/name_f], which might help it become a bit more popular/mainstreamed again.
While I’m not too fond of [name_f]Suzie[/name_f], I do think it’s ready to come back into fashion, especially after the latest episode of Stranger Things. It’s such a cute scene (if you want to know what I mean, look up ‘Never Ending [name_u]Story[/name_u] Stranger Things’ and you’ll get what I mean), and I think some people will be attracted to that name due to the association.
My aunt is [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] nn [name_f]Suzy[/name_f], so any other spelling looks funny to me the same way any spelling of my name other than [name_f]Katy[/name_f] does. I do think it plays much more like a nickname (I always do the Supreme [name_m]Court[/name_m] test: if you can’t imagine a justice with that name, you might want to reconsider), but that’s totally up to you.
