I’ve been in a serious nae slump recently, and ao I’m trying to revive my naming creativity by diving in depth into some name crushes I’ve had for a little… That I’m stuck on how to incorporate into my lists. Today, it’s time for [name_m]Aven[/name_m] to shine!

[name_m]Aven[/name_m] was a name I’d heard of previously (my childhood choir included a boy called Aven), but he’s recently been put on my radar again as being suited to my lists. It’s the name of a small flower that grows in the rocky mountains , and also reminds me if birds because of the similarity to the latin “aves”, meaning birds. To me, he sounds so adventurous and woodsy, perfect for a woodland traipsing, bird watching, newt catching little boy. I picture forest forts, fireflies, yarn cat toys, home baking, and a room full of paper airplanes and seaglass mobiles.

[name_m]The[/name_m] floral meaning is a perfect honour for my father and his passion for hiking, as well as the many family backpacking trips in the rockies that we’ve been on. Also, it echoes the sound of my brother’s name, which I think it quite sweet. (It does deter me slightly though, as they sound quite similar ([name_m]Aven[/name_m] and Iv@n)…I like that it’s a bit of an honour, but realistically it might be too confusing. [name_m]Not[/name_m] that there are any real life children being named here, but still Would love to hear opinions on this, too.)
Either way, I’m thinking he ticks many of my boxes, and I’m curious ro bring you amazing berries in to voice your opinions. Does he fit my list? What vibe do you get? I’m also in the process of trying to find the perfect [name_m]Aven[/name_m] combo, so any help there would be appreciated. What middle would you recommend based on my style, or what first would you give [name_m]Aven[/name_m] as a middle? I have [name_m]Aven[/name_m] [name_m]Sorrel[/name_m] in my UC but I’m not sure he’s the one.

I wouldn’t have thought of [name_m]Aven[/name_m] but it does have that woodlands, Anglo-Saxon & Scandi vibe, almost fantasy.

From your list, I’d go [name_m]Aven[/name_m] [name_m]Herschel[/name_m] or (and I think this is better) your [name_m]Aven[/name_m] [name_m]Sorrel[/name_m]. There are probably several others but how about:

Oh I’ve never come across him but he’s lovely! I love the way you connect the imagery to your family. He also makes me think of the river [name_m]Avon[/name_m] in the UK (which is pronounced the same in my accent) so lots of lovely nature vibes. With the similarity to your brother’s name, I’d suggest having him in the middle so you can have all those lovely connections without it getting confusing. [name_m]Aven[/name_m] [name_m]Sorrel[/name_m] is a fantastic combo, though!!

[name_m]Aven[/name_m] really does feel like a great fit for your style, soft, outdoorsy, a little whimsical, but still very wearable. I can totally see him on your list. He gives me calm, nature-loving little boy vibes without feeling overly cottagecore or fantasy-ish.

I actually think the Rockies connection makes the name much more special too. [name_m]The[/name_m] subtle honour for your dad feels really meaningful, especially since it ties into real memories and not just sound alone.

As for [name_m]Aven[/name_m] and Iv@n sounding similar, I noticed it when you mentioned it, but I don’t think it’s too close? They definitely echo each other, though in a kind of sweet way. Since it’s mostly for list purposes anyway, I personally wouldn’t let it stop you.

I actually think the connection to your father and your family hiking trips makes it even more special. Those sorts of personal meanings are always my favourite. As for [name_m]Aven[/name_m] and [name_m]Ivan[/name_m], I do hear the similarity, but not enough that it would put me off. It feels more like a subtle honour than a direct namesake.

I think [name_m]Aven[/name_m] fits your style quite well too. It has that naturey, slightly whimsical feel that a lot of your favourites seem to share.

Overall, I think [name_m]Aven[/name_m] is such a sweet, underused choice. It feels fresh and adventurous without sounding made up, which is quite a hard balance to strike!
