[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all! I have a new baby girl named [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. We thought she’d go by [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] but it just doesn’t seem to fit her. And we call her Sweetpea so a P nickname would fit better.
I love [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] but I do feel like it’s gaining popularity quickly.
I love earthy, boho, quirky names so I’m leaning towards [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] but he feels it’s too weird. Any other options or opinions on [name_u]Pepper[/name_u]?
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is wonderful! [name_f]Polly[/name_f] was my first thought–sweet and familiar but totally unexpected on a baby, at least where I am (U.S.).
ETA thoughts on Sweetpea & Pepper! I think Sweetpea is adorable but maybe more of a pet name than a nickname? I think it’s super cute for a little one though. Pepper is sassy and fun and I can see it working better if you’re looking for a more “formal” (if there is such a thing with nicknames!) nickname.
I love the name [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. Congratulations on your new baby and a great name selection! [name_f]Imo[/name_f] nicknames can be whatever you want them to be. Within the family, I think Sweetpea is adorable. [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] would be a more logical nn especially for others outside of the family to use if that’s the route you want to go.
I personally love [name_u]Pepper[/name_u], [name_u]Piper[/name_u], and [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]. Also [name_u]Penny[/name_u], [name_u]Pen[/name_u], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], Opie, Nene, and [name_f]Lolo[/name_f].
I’m a big [name_u]Marvel[/name_u] geek, so when you say [name]Pepper[/name_f], I automatically imagine a tall girl with ginger or strawberry blond hair and some freckles with a calm-yet-sassy personality. Other than that, I don’t really have any thoughts on the name. I do think that it’s more of a nickname, though.
Pepper has always been a gp of mine it makes me think of the tough orphan from [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. If you’ve found a way to use it as a nickname I say go for it
I think both Sweetpea and [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] make great nicknames for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] is my favourite and may work better when she gets older, but Sweetpea is very cute for a little one.
I absolutely love [name_u]Pepper[/name_u]! It’s sassy and sweet and fun, but not cutesy at all. Sweetpea is very cute – definitely leaning towards the “too cutesy” side for a lifelong nickname but as a childhood/family pet name it’s adorable.
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f], [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_u]Pip[/name_u], Polly and [name_f]Nell[/name_f] are my other favourites of those mentioned above. [name_f]Lola[/name_f] or Posy/Posey/Posie could also work?
I love [name_u]Pepper[/name_u]! I think it’s a creative, fun nn for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]/Polly is okay, but [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] is darling.
Thank you everyone!! I’m really loving [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] for a formal nickname and Sweetpea for her at home now just to convince her dad, he’s so in love with [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
Congratulations! I love that! [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] is such a fun and unexpected nickname for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and Sweetpea is an adorable pet name.
I do like [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] as well. I think you guys could definitely have different nicknames for her! [name_f]My[/name_f] hubby and I use different nn for our daughter!
Pepper is very fun! [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is really nice too and not too popular, I don’t think. [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] does remind me of the character in [name_m]Iron[/name_m] [name_m]Man[/name_m]. (That and my friend’s cat)
