Sy?

I love the name [name]Cy[/name]/[name]Sy[/name], but much prefer the full name of [name]Silas[/name] to [name]Cyrus[/name] or [name]Cy[/name]. If we use the name [name]Silas[/name], is the nn spelled [name]Sy[/name] too awkward? I would like him to go by the nn for the most part.

thanks!

I don’t think it’s too awkward. I’m not sure why he’d need to spell his nn though. [name]Do[/name] you want him to write it on his papers at school and stuff?

The spelling [name]Sy[/name] is fine for a [name]Silas[/name]. I love [name]Silas[/name]!

My grandfather’s name was [name]Cyril[/name] but he went by [name]Cy[/name]. I don’t think it is weird at all and falls in line with the trend of names from that generation coming back in style.

I want [name]Sy[/name] to be the name he goes by primarily, so it would probably be what his teachers call him and what he writes on his papers. That’s why the spelling concerns me. I know that [name]Cy[/name] is the more common spelling, but with the full name [name]Silas[/name], I feel like [name]Sy[/name] is more logical. [name]Just[/name] a little unsure of how it looks or if the pronunciation is clear.

I love [name]Silas[/name]/[name]Sy[/name]! I think it’s fine to change the spelling for a nn–I think people would intuitively understand how to say [name]Sy[/name] more quickly than [name]Si[/name], anyway.

Good luck!
