Hello, so my wife and I painted ourselves into a corner here. We have two amazing daughters, and started out with the goal of all S names…. And kinda of accidentally ended both with “ia.” We’re expecting in late sept/early [name_u]October[/name_u] and…. We’re at a loss for another S name that fits. Both are S names, ending in “ia”, and are older/vintage names…. If you have ideas, we are more than all ears!
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is pretty vintage (I know it’s popular, but it’s still lovely) and would fit your theme!
Other ideas:
[name_f]Celia[/name_f] (does not start with an S, but has the same sounds!)
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_u]Sequoia[/name_u]
Serelia
Here are a few ideas:
Saskia
Sequoia
Sophia
Soraia
I think Saskia is my favorite with your other names, so that they each have their own starting sound… Sylvia, Sonia, and Saskia.
Sophia is the most common, but I wonder if Sonia and Sophia are too similar?
[name_f]Sonia[/name_f] is a form of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] so I would not use it if I were in that situation. [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] is quite lovely though!
Sandria
Cynthia
Claudia
Saraia
Selah
Stacia
If you’re willing to branch out a little from the exact S–ia pattern, maybe…
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] / [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Cynthia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] / [name_f]Sara[/name_f]
[name_f]Serena[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Sheila[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] / [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecile[/name_f]
[name_u]Celeste[/name_u]
[name_f]Celine[/name_f] / [name_f]Solene[/name_f]
[name_u]Or[/name_u] keeping the -ia ending and older theme but not the “s” beginning sound…
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gloria[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] (I like that this also shares the V sound in [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], I think it helps tie the names together!)
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f]
You’ve had lots of great suggestions. I love [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] or Sophia/Sofia for you! For others fitting your pattern, maybe [name_f]Sophronia[/name_f] or Sepia?
But I would recommend considering names starting with S and ending in A, which would still fit well with your other names, but would expand your options to a much wider selection of names such as [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_f]Selena[/name_f], [name_f]Sara[/name_f], [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], [name_u]Senna[/name_u], [name_f]Sana[/name_f], [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f], [name_f]Sandra[/name_f], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], [name_f]Saga[/name_f], [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f], [name_f]Samantha[/name_f], [name_f]Seanna[/name_f], [name_f]Sela[/name_f], [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], [name_u]Sierra[/name_u], Seraphina/Serafina, etc.
I love [name_f]Stella[/name_f] here. I know it doesn’t end in -ia but I feel like using that criteria really limits your choices and the beginning/ending still match and if matches in vibe.
[name_f]Sara[/name_f], [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_f]Savanna[/name_f], [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] also meet criteria. [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is too close to [name_f]Sonia[/name_f] imo.
Good luck
From my own list, I have [name_f]Serenia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sereia[/name_f].
I used the Babycenter search feature and found some more. [name_f]Shania[/name_f], [name_f]Soleia[/name_f], [name_f]Samaria[/name_f], [name_f]Stefania[/name_f], [name_f]Sidonia[/name_f], [name_f]Sabrinia[/name_f], Safronia, Santamaria, etc.
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f], [name_u]Sequoia[/name_u], [name_f]Soraya[/name_f] / [name_f]Soraia[/name_f], Stelia, Serelia might fit
Other ideas:
[name_f]Sara[/name_f] / [name_f]Sarai[/name_f]
[name_f]Serafina[/name_f]
[name_f]Sandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Serena[/name_f]
[name_f]Selena[/name_f]
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
Silena
[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophronia[/name_f]
[name_f]Soraia[/name_f]
[name_f]Stasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f] (I know it doesn’t quite fit, but it does have an I and an A at the end)
You could stretch the theme and just think ‘names that begin with S and end with A’ which gives you more options:
[name_f]Sara[/name_f]
[name_f]Selena[/name_f]
[name_f]Serena[/name_f]
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabina[/name_f]
[name_f]Sapphira[/name_f]
[name_f]Samantha[/name_f]
[name_f]Selma[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_u]Or[/name_u] some older/vintage names beginning with S:
[name_f]Sibyl[/name_f]
[name_f]Susanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f]
[name_f]Susan[/name_f]
[name_f]Sara[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] would be fabulous
Some more ideas:
[name_f]Sabina[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_u]Sloane[/name_u]
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_f]Sonia[/name_f] and [name_f]Shania[/name_f] would work!
I love [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_f]Sonia[/name_f] & [name_f]Selene[/name_f]!
Other S names
[name_f]Sunniva[/name_f]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Suki[/name_f]
[name_u]Seren[/name_u]
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Sally[/name_f]
[name_f]Shauna[/name_f]
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_u]Sydney[/name_u]
Personally I think [name_f]Selene[/name_f], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] would be great with [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] & [name_f]Sonia[/name_f] but other names like [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] or [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] share the same vintage feel.
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] or [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] was my first thought before reading your full post.
other options:
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
[name_f]Selia[/name_f]
[name_f]Shelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sia[/name_f]
[name_f]Solaria[/name_f]
[name_f]Soleia[/name_f]
[name_f]Stasia[/name_f]
don’t quite fit the pattern:
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f] / [name_f]Sibella[/name_f]
[name_f]Samantha[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Selma[/name_f] / [name_f]Salma[/name_f]
[name_u]Shea[/name_u]
Everyone’s given you great suggestions and I agree that if it feels right, you could broaden your theme without raising any eyebrows. If I heard [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_f]Sonia[/name_f] and [name_f]Serena[/name_f] (for instance) I wouldn’t even register that the third one is a little different.
I think the name end suffix of “na” would go well like the Swedish names [name_f]Sanna[/name_f], or Seriana
Wow. Thank you all for the ideas, replies, thoughts… posted this before bed, and already had 10 replies by morning. Some great ideas too; love-love [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] as an old vintage name like the others!!!
……buuuuuUuuuut…. We just got the DNA results back, which is confirming we had the gender wrong . It’s a boy!!!
Thank you all again for all this! This is such a great community!!!
