Tab99's current favourites

Hi! I’ve been updating my favourites list, I would describe my style as names that aren’t really popular (here in [name_m]England[/name_m]) but names that are established and everyone has heard of

These are my current 5 favourites:
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] “Vera”
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] “Cress”
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] “Sylvie”
[name_f]Annika[/name_f] “Annie”
[name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] “Fizz”

Completing my top 10 are [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] “Ro”, [name_f]Myfanwy[/name_f] “Anwy”, [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] “Celie”, [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] “Pia” and [name_f]Marsaili[/name_f] “Sally”

I would appreciate any opinions on the names or sibset combinations from my list. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to give as much or as little feedback as you want. Thanks everyone!

This is such a beautiful list! [name_f]Classy[/name_f] and classic, but not overused.

My personal favourites are [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] and [name_f]Marsaili[/name_f] and I think they’d make for stunning sisters. Personally I find [name_f]Vera[/name_f] and [name_f]Sally[/name_f] less exciting but they work.

Also loving [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] “Pia”!

I love [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] ‘Fizz’ and [name_f]Marsaili[/name_f] ‘Sally’ together - I love the complementary L and S sounds, but the nicknames make them feel so distinctive and sparkly.

If I had to build a sibset from yours, I’d choose [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] ‘Ro’, [name_f]Annika[/name_f] ‘Annie’ and [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] ‘Vera’ together. These go together in a classy way, and I can see them on any age so I think they’ll wear well throughout life.

I love your names!!

[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] “Vera” → sharp, mystical and distinctive – but [name_f]Vera[/name_f] grounds it!

[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] → gorgeous, magical, literary and lovely - [name_m]Cress[/name_m] is so cute too. One of my faves

[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] → sleek, sharp, pretty and stylish

[name_f]Annika[/name_f] → zippy, sparky and cool – [name_f]Annie[/name_f] adds something cute to a name with a kick

[name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] → clunky and quirky with a bit of whimsy. [name_m]Not[/name_m] a personal fave, but I don’t dislike it. Fizz is so fun

[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] → bright, sparkly, and literary – love nickname Ro

[name_f]Myfanwy[/name_f] → I like the slightly rugged yet poetic vibe of it. Do I think there could potentially be some teasing outside of [name_m]Wales[/name_m]? Maybe – but I do like the sound

[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] → elegant and spritely – [name_f]Celie[/name_f] is so sweet

[name_f]Philomena[/name_f] → clunky yet elegant at the same time – and [name_f]Pia[/name_f] is such a sassy, sweet nickname

[name_f]Marsaili[/name_f] → I love the flow and sparkyness of this – a touch earthy/nature-y.

If I were to make some sibsets…

[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Philomena[/name_f]
[name_f]Annika[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Marsaili[/name_f] and [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]

I love your list! I really like the historical, royal vibe of [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], and [name_f]Vera[/name_f] is a fun nickname for it. I think [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] is really underrated and I love [name_m]Cress[/name_m] for it. I’m not sold on [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] but Fizz is the cutest nickname! I also adore [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] and [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] (Pia is so cute).

For sibsets, I’d pair:
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] & [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] & [name_f]Philomena[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] & [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] & [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Annika[/name_f] & [name_f]Marsaili[/name_f]

Hi there.

Here are my thoughts-

[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] ‘Vera’-I love love love [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]! She’s been one of my very favorites since I was a teenager around the turn of the century. :joy: I’d not a huge fan of the nn [name_f]Vera[/name_f]. I think if anything I like the nn [name_f]Gigi[/name_f], but really prefer just [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f].

[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] ‘Cress’-I’m not really familiar with their name, but I guess it’s not bad. It’s interesting, but I’m not sure I love the sound.

[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] ‘Sylvie’-So lovely! I adore smart elegant [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] with the spunky pixie nn [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].

[name_f]Annika[/name_f] ‘Annie’-Very cute! A slightly unique way to get the familiar [name_f]Annie[/name_f].

[name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] ‘Fizz’-Not big on [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f]. I just don’t like the sound that much. It feels sort of dated and Fizz is hard to picture on a human. I think I’d like it for a cat, though! :grinning_cat:

[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] ‘Ro’-Rosalind is elegant and romantic. I much prefer sweet [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] to Ro.

[name_f]Myfanwy[/name_f] ‘Anwy’-Such a cool name. I think realistically it’ll be hard to say & spell for people, but really fun none the less. I don’t love Anwy, but maybe a nn for such a mouthful of a name is a good idea. Maybe a strectcy nn like [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] would be a cute idea.

[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] ‘Celie’-Smart & classic with a sweet fun nn.

[name_f]Philomena[/name_f] ‘Pia’-I don’t mind this. I do prefer it to [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] if we’re talking ‘Phil/Phyl’ names. I don’t like [name_f]Pia[/name_f] though. Much prefer [name_f]Mena[/name_f].

Marasaili ‘Sally’-I’m not even really sure how to say this, but it’s kind of cool. [name_f]Sally[/name_f] is adorable.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

What a gorgeous list! :face_holding_back_tears::face_holding_back_tears:

I adore [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Annika[/name_f], [name_f]Philomena[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], and [name_f]Marsaili[/name_f], though I’m especially fond of [name_f]Vera[/name_f] and [name_f]Pia[/name_f] as nicknames for [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] and [name_f]Philomena[/name_f]! I’m fond of [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] nn [name_f]Philou[/name_f] myself, but I would love to meet a little [name_f]Pia[/name_f]! Anwy for [name_f]Myfanwy[/name_f] is so adorable, too.

I would love to meet sisters named [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] and [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] nns [name_f]Vera[/name_f] and [name_f]Pia[/name_f] most, but any of these would be stunning together

Good luck!

I really like how distinctive your list is while still feeling very established and wearable! It has a very vintage, literary feel overall. My favourites are [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] “Vera” (Vera is such a lovely nickname and feels very timeless), [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] “Sylvie”, and [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] “Celie”. I also really like [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] “Ro”, [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] “Cress” and [name_f]Annika[/name_f] “Annie”, they feels elegant but not overused.

[name_f]Myfanwy[/name_f] “Anwy” is really interesting and has such a strong Welsh identity, although I imagine pronunciation could be a consideration outside [name_m]Wales[/name_m]. [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] “Pia” is probably the most romantic of the list and I love the nickname [name_f]Pia[/name_f]. [name_f]Marsaili[/name_f] “Sally” is really charming and I like that it gives a more familiar nickname while keeping the full name distinctive, plus if she wanted to she could go by [name_m]Mars[/name_m] which is super cute as well!

I think [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] and [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] would make a gorgeous sibset because they all have that classic, romantic feel. [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] “Fizz” is probably the one that stands out the most to me, but I actually love how unexpected the nickname is!

Thank you for all the feedback my takeaways:

  • As much as I love [name_f]Myfanwy[/name_f], unless I move to [name_m]Wales[/name_m] I think it will just be a potential middle name.
  • I was unsure about trapping myself into a “V” theme with [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] but I now think they’d work with a 3rd name without a V in.
  • It’s definitely made me feel my list is cohesive I was worried it was a bit all over place.
  • I’m going to put up my boy list later I feel my boy list is more controversial
