Tad šŸŖ

Hello! I hope yā€™all are having a wonderful day!

Recently Iā€™ve been absolutely in love with the charming [name_m]Tad[/name_m] ā€“ he feels so fresh and playful, with a bright sound. He reminds me of tadpoles swimming in a sparkling pond, fresh spring breezes, and kites flying.
So, I wanted to hear how everybody else feels about him. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to answer as few or as many questions as your time allows:

  1. [name_m]General[/name_m] thoughts on [name_m]Tad[/name_m]? Have you ever met one?
  2. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_m]Tad[/name_m] works well as a standalone, or is there a full name you like with [name_m]Tad[/name_m] as a nickname?
  3. Middle name options? So far Iā€™ve been weighing between [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Cypress[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m], and [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m], but Iā€™d love to hear more thoughts!
  4. What would you name siblings to [name_m]Tad[/name_m]? What do you think of [name_m]Arlo[/name_m] (my other current favorite) & [name_m]Tad[/name_m] as brothers?

Thanks so much :two_hearts:

oh, tad is cute! he reminds me of knitted jumpers, wool socks, vintage toys, and fallen leaves- heā€™s a little eclectic, which i personally really enjoy in a name! :socks:

iā€™ve never met a tad, but i sure would like to! i think he stands well on his own, but would make an adorable nickname for thaddeus, as well! :ear_of_rice:

tad finnegan is my favorite of your choices, but here are a few more that came to mind for meā€¦ :steam_locomotive:

tad amos
tad fletcher
tad clarence
tad robin
tad herschel
tad wilbur

arlo makes a perfect brother, but i also like ira and rudy with tad, as well as goldie, nella, and frances for sisters. :teddy_bear:

[name_m]Tad[/name_m] is cool - I like the style - confident, short, and unexpected - the familiar feel of [name_m]Ted[/name_m], [name_m]Chad[/name_m], and [name_m]Mack[/name_m], but also distinctly its own name.

I guess my drawback would be that I do find myself using the word tad a lot :person_shrugging: might be a me issue though

I like [name_m]Tad[/name_m] as a stand alone :slight_smile: It could be a nickname for: [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m], [name_m]Tancred[/name_m], [name_m]Bertrand[/name_m], Trafford, [name_m]Taliesin[/name_m]

[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] and [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Cypress[/name_m] are so cool!

Iā€™d consider:

[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]
[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m]
[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Julian[/name_m]
[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m]
[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Azariah[/name_m]
[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Elliot[/name_m]
[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Phineas[/name_m]
[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Westley[/name_m]

I like [name_m]Arlo[/name_m] in theory with [name_m]Tad[/name_m] - both cool and playful and charming. I guess my only thing is that [name_m]Arlo[/name_m] is super popular where I am, whereas [name_m]Tad[/name_m] is rare - however, that might not be an issue where you are - or not bother you at all!

With [name_m]Tad[/name_m], Iā€™d considerā€¦

[name_m]Cy[/name_m]
[name_m]Nash[/name_m]
[name_m]Ziggy[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonty[/name_m]
[name_m]Roo[/name_m]

1 and 2: I think [name_m]Tad[/name_m] is really cute, however only as a nickname. [name_m]Tad[/name_m] makes me think of tadpoles as a standalone. Iā€™ve never met a [name_m]Tad[/name_m], but I read a book where the main characterā€™s younger brother was [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] ā€œTadā€ and I thought it was a really sweet nickname. I think [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] ā€œTadā€ could also work.

  1. [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Seraphim[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Astrophel[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Caedmon[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Hartwell[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Lysander[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Meridian[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Mirabeau[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Oleander[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Winslow[/name_m] - hopefully some of these are your taste!!

  2. I think [name_m]Tad[/name_m] and [name_m]Arlo[/name_m] are so cute together and complement each other so well!! Here are some other ideas: [name_f]Lou[/name_f], [name_m]Rex[/name_m], [name_m]Kip[/name_m], [name_m]Kit[/name_m], [name_m]Ira[/name_m], Benji/Kenji, [name_m]Hart[/name_m], [name_m]Gus[/name_m], [name_m]Fitz[/name_m], Bo/Beau, [name_m]Asa[/name_m], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Leia[/name_f], [name_f]Mari[/name_f], Nola/Nora, [name_m]Rory[/name_m], [name_f]Shay[/name_f], [name_f]Zadie[/name_f]

  1. [name_m]Tad[/name_m] is a great name! I know a little boy named [name_m]Tad[/name_m] as well as a middle-aged [name_m]Tad[/name_m]. Works well throughout the life course in my opinion :slight_smile:
  2. I think it should be a standalone name.
  3. All of your middle names sound great. I think [name_m]Tad[/name_m] works great with most 2-4 syllable middle names.
  4. [name_m]Arlo[/name_m] & [name_m]Tad[/name_m] are a cute sibset.

[name_m]Tad[/name_m] is super cute and does remind me of tadpoles in a pond! I also love the name [name_m]Todd[/name_m] which reminds me of toadstools and moss. I think it definitely works as a stand-alone name, although Iā€™ve never met one in real life.

[name_m]Tad[/name_m] also does remind me of tadpoles! Kites are also a good way of describing the name!
I donā€™t recall ever meeting a [name_m]Tad[/name_m]. I think itā€™s a sweet nickname for a name like [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] or even [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]! [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] nn [name_m]Tad[/name_m] is one of my favorite names!
[name_m]Arlo[/name_m] and [name_m]Tad[/name_m] are cute as brothers, but again I prefer [name_m]Tad[/name_m] as a nickname, not a standalone name, since it feels informal.
[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] ā€œTadā€ and [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] ā€œSol, [name_m]Sal[/name_m], Sollyā€
[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] ā€œTadā€ and [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] ā€œGid, Giddie, [name_m]Gil[/name_m] (with an l middle name)ā€
[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] ā€œThadā€ and [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] ā€œAbeā€

Having a half-Welsh background I donā€™t like Tad as a name because it is the Welsh for dad, but if youā€™re in the US itā€™s probably fine but Iā€™d probably prefer it as a nickname to Tadai.

@emeraldsea Thanks for the response! Iā€™m so glad you like [name_m]Tad[/name_m], and [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] ā€œTadā€ is a great idea! Iā€™m loving [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Amos[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Clarence[/name_m], & [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m], and [name_m]Tad[/name_m], [name_m]Rudy[/name_m], & [name_f]Nella[/name_f] would make such a darling set.

@Greyblue Thanks for the response! Good point about the word tad, I didnā€™t think of that. [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Julian[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], & [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] are all so handsome ā€“ and Iā€™m loving your sibling suggestions of [name_m]Roo[/name_m], [name_m]Linus[/name_m], [name_m]Jonty[/name_m], [name_m]Sol[/name_m], [name_m]Joss[/name_m], [name_f]Romi[/name_f], [name_f]Winry[/name_f], & [name_f]Lula[/name_f]!

@babynames17 Thanks for the response! Iā€™m really starting to love the idea of [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] ā€œTadā€. [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Seraphim[/name_m], [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Oleander[/name_m], & [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Mirabeau[/name_m] are super intriguing, and siblings [name_m]Kit[/name_m], [name_m]Gus[/name_m], [name_m]Fitz[/name_m], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] & [name_f]Faye[/name_f] are all on point, youā€™ve really captured the vibe!

@namer_gamer Thanks for the response! So cool that youā€™ve met a few Tadā€™s in real life ā€“ Iā€™m really glad that you think the name ages well!

@aylacoggins Thanks for responding! Iā€™m glad you like [name_m]Tad[/name_m]! [name_m]Todd[/name_m] is a super cute alternative.

@Maria_Bennett Thanks for the response! I adore all these sibset suggestions, [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] is really growing on me! Iā€™m especially loving [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] ā€œTadā€ & [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] ā€œSolā€

@Etymology Thanks for responding! I didnā€™t know that [name_m]Tad[/name_m] was the Welsh name for dad, thatā€™s so cool ā€“ and maybe an offbeat way to honor my dad? Tadai is super intriguing!

Iā€™ve never met a [name_m]Tad[/name_m] and had no idea it was a name.

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thoughts, honestly, are the word tad: Tad Definition & Meaning - Merriam-Webster
In [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]Zealand[/name_m] [name_f]English[/name_f] as someone growing up in the nineties it was a word I frequently heard and used, e.g. ā€œIā€™ll be there in a tadā€ or an understatement like ā€œWell that was a tad stressfulā€.

But I donā€™t hear it used heaps amongst the younger generation.

[name_f]My[/name_f] other first thought was that it looks like someone got creative with [name_m]Ted[/name_m], as names like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] with [name_m]Ted[/name_m] or [name_m]Teddy[/name_m] for short are more common.

It also reminds me of [name_m]Brad[/name_m] which Iā€™m not a huge fan of, makes me think [name_m]Brad[/name_m] [name_m]Pitt[/name_m] and vibe of being a bit full of themselves.

BUT my views are pretty dated so :woman_shrugging: [name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted you to be aware of the word in case others mention it. Prefer it as a nickname to [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m].

emphasized textI have never met a [name_m]Tad[/name_m] . I think itā€™s a cute nickname , but I personally prefer longer names with spunky nicknames options

[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m] gets my vote but I will sugges

[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]
[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]

I would name Tadā€™s siblings

@Kiriko Thanks for the response, thereā€™s some great thoughts here! You bring up a good point about the word tad, but I figure it should be okay because of the popularity of word names recently.

@diane921 Thanks for responding! Ooo I love these sets, especially [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] & [name_m]Robert[/name_m] ā€œTad & Boā€, [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] & [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] ā€œTad & Sebā€, & [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] & [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] ā€œTad & Clemā€ ā€“ that last one is especially adorable!

@Ehrob1 Thanks for the response! [name_m]Tad[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] is cute, and I love the suggestions of [name_m]Kip[/name_m], [name_f]Chelsea[/name_f] ā€œElsieā€ (never thought of this nickname, itā€™s adorable!!), & [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ā€œJoā€ for siblings.

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought is the movie ā€˜Win a date with [name_m]Tad[/name_m] Hamiltonā€™ which isnt a good or bad association really.

I also grew up with 2 Tadā€™s in my year, and I have a cousin named [name_m]Tad[/name_m] so to me [name_m]Tad[/name_m] seems like a solid if slightly dated choice (though the dated is probably just my experience) along the lines of [name_m]Brad[/name_m] and [name_m]Doug[/name_m].
