currently obsessed with the name tadhg the only problem i have with it is i feel, living in the us, i’d constantly have to correct people on the spelling and pronunciation. and that would get annoying for a kid… i found an irish celebrity of some sort on wikipedia who spells it teigue which looks a little more phonetically correct. thoughts on teigue or maybe tygue?
I love [name_m]Tadhg[/name_m] such a cool sound and meaning. I do think you’d have trouble in the US with the pn thou
Teigue might work though or [name_m]Tyge[/name_m]
I love it and I’m in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] but would expect to have to explain the pronunciation too. With that, I think it is worth it when you really love the name as you would only have to introduce him once and then the person knows. Not a big deal in my mind. I think everyone WANTS to say someone’s name correctly and once they know how, no problem. It depends on personality too as if you or he are easily frustrated it may not work for you.
I do see it having issues but people can learn.
I think the alternate spelling makes about as much sense as [name_m]Tadhg[/name_m], maybe less (I know people who would say Tei like Tay).
I would go with [name_m]Tyge[/name_m] if not [name_m]Tadhg[/name_m]
All these spellings confuse me as a typical American I want this name to sound like league but starting with a T. [name_u]Or[/name_u] maybe [name_m]Tag[/name_m]?
yes haha😂 how would you think tyge is pronounced?
[name_m]Tadhg[/name_m] is lovely but I have the same doubts as you. The suggested [name_m]Tyge[/name_m] is a more intuitive spelling, to me. I’ve also seen [name_m]Teague[/name_m].
Like the beginning of tiger or like tide but a g sound instead of the d.
I would just tell people it’s [name_m]Tadhg[/name_m] like [name_u]Tiger[/name_u], deal with it it’s a cool name!
ok thx
