Taelie - Girls name?

Not a name for me to use, but one of my sisters friends is pregnant with a girl and has decided on the name: Taelie ([name_u]Tay[/name_u]-lee) [name_u]Auburn[/name_u]. I think it sounds quite pretty. WDYT?

  • For a boy she was considering [name_u]Brayden[/name_u] [name_m]Miles[/name_m].

Honestly? It looks made up and sounds very ‘trendy’ plus there’s going to be inevitable pronunciation issues. [name_u]Auburn[/name_u] is very pretty though! Good for her!

I’m not a big fan of [name_u]Auburn[/name_u], but Taelie is sweet. I kind of like it as an alternative to my own name ([name_u]Haley[/name_u]) and [name_f]Kayleigh[/name_f].

I think it’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with Taelie, it just seems very bland- a lot like [name_f]Kaylee[/name_f], [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], [name_f]Jaylee[/name_f], [name_f]Braylee[/name_f], [name_f]Brylee[/name_f], [name_f]Kylie[/name_f], etc. ad infinitum. They all sound very similar and each one seems to have dozens of spelling variants.
I do like [name_u]Auburn[/name_u] in the middle. It’s unusual, doesn’t really sound like anything else, and I think it’s very interesting with Taelie.

You might also like one of these names:
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_u]Auden[/name_u]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]
[name_f]Cambrie[/name_f]
[name_f]Keira[/name_f]
[name_f]Aisling[/name_f] (pronounced [name_u]Ash[/name_u]-ling)
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]

I believe that Taelie is trying too hard and looks quite “tryndee”, and I prefer [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] to [name_u]Auburn[/name_u]. All I can hear is the “burn” part of [name_u]Auburn[/name_u], for some reason.

[name_f]Taelie[/name_f] sounds a bit trendy and without much substance… like she couldn’t decide between [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] and [name_f]Kaylie[/name_f]/[name_u]Bailey[/name_u]. [name_u]Auburn[/name_u] sounds too masculine to me, especially with that first name, though I guess choosing it over [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] was due in-part to liking the balance of the -ie and -n endings.

Personally, for the same overall effect, I would go [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] [name_f]Audrey[/name_f].

Looks pretty to me, but that may be bias because I love the name Raelie, so Taelie is wonderful to me!
