Taisa?

I came across this name in a book and it stood out to me. It just sounded really pretty and unique. I like the sound but I wonder if it sounds too much like “taze-a.” What do you think?

I confess my first thought was “taze-a” (as in the word “tazer”). Is it [name]Tay[/name]-eesa? Or more like Tayssa (like [name]Tessa[/name])?

Sorry, sounds like taser :frowning:

Well, it should be pronounced ([name]TYE[/name]-sah) or (tah-EE-sah), so I don’t think tazer when I see it. This is the modern Greek form of [name]Thais[/name]. I slightly prefer [name]Thais[/name], but this is nice too.

I’m pretty sure it’s a variant of the Russian name, Taissa.

My friend is named [name]Tasia[/name], which is a shortening of [name]Anastasia[/name], I’d spell it that way.She pronounces it like Asia with a T sound in front, and her nickname is Tazer!
