Talk About Your Signature

I don’t know if there’s a thread with this concept, but I thought I would make my own.

Basically, you make a post talking about the names you have on your signature; what they mean to you, why would you use them, why do you like them, etc. and you share it with other people.

Nice thread idea!

@jonquils I love how wonderfully meaningful all your names are - how literary and how well thought out they are! I really enjoyed reading your descriptions

As for mine (not quite so exciting tbh)

[name_f]Sarai[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]: I met a girl called [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] when I was doing work experience back when I was 14 and fell in love with the name immediately. I love that it has history, that it means princess but isn’t in any way frilly. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is a name I’ve liked for a long time - one that strikes me as strong and elegant, but also fun. For me, it has the right balance between girly and no fuss and I love the nickname [name_u]Rai[/name_u]

[name_f]Romilly[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] was one I came across in a book I read as a teen - I love names that roll of the tongue - ones that are long and frilly but also have the option of short and punchy nicknames! [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is after [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] which also means its a nod to a family middle name [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (as in [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f] - which is maybe a bit of a stretch but it works for me)

[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] - this name is basically [name_f]Villette[/name_f] inspired - it reminds me of probably my favourite year at uni and two of my absolute favourite characters, [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] Snowe and [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] Fanshawe. I love the imagery of [name_f]Snow[/name_f] and the lovely O sound and I enjoy the over the top yet sharp sounds of [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]. Plus Nevvie, [name_f]Gin[/name_f], [name_f]Gia[/name_f] and [name_u]Ever[/name_u] are all nn possibilities.

[name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] - I came across [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] on another name website and fell in love with it immediately - it’s so lyrical and joyful. [name_u]Winter[/name_u] just felt right with it, giving it a kind of mystical, fairy tale quality, without, I hope, being too over the top

[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] - I taught the sweetest kid called [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] a few years back and fell in love with the name. I like the gentleness of it and the fact it feels slightly mythical but grounded. [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is a name I just really enjoy for its ruggedness and sense of adventure

[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] - [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] grew massively on me after reading The Moonstone by [name_m]Wilkie[/name_m] [name_u]Collins[/name_u] - it’s such a snappy but soft name - and I find the character [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Jennings[/name_m] fascinating. [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] is a newer love but I just love names ending in O and I really enjoy the fact [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] is tied to sun and poetry

[name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u] - this one doesn’t really have any meaning behind it other than how I love how soft Otto is, how it ends in an o and is also a palindrome. Elias is just one that sounds distinctive but familiar.

[name_m]Fergus[/name_m] [name_m]Evander[/name_m] - Fergus is a newer love - I discovered it I suppose in both the Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Waverly so it has a literary vibe to me. Evander I just love - I love Evan too but Evander has a kind of poetic flair that I enjoy.

Sorry these descriptions probably weren’t all that exciting.
