[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] has always been a name I’ve kind of liked but not really paid much attention to. So now I want to know other peoples thoughts on the name, What kind of a person is [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]? If you love the name, why? if you hate it, why?

I would use this name in a heartbeat! I love [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. Why? Two words: [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Roosevelt[/name_m] There’s only one other “politician” name I would use (well, technically two… but I’m not big on surnames), [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m].

Theodore Roosevelt shot in Milwaukee

Before a campaign speech in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Theodore Roosevelt, the presidential candidate for the Progressive Party, is shot at close range by saloonkeeper John Schrank while greeting the public in front of the Gilpatrick Hotel. Schrank’s .32-caliber bullet, aimed directly at Roosevelt’s heart, failed to mortally wound the former president because its force was slowed by a glasses case and a bundle of manuscript in the breast pocket of Roosevelt’s heavy coat–a manuscript containing Roosevelt’s evening speech. Schrank was immediately detained and reportedly offered as his motive that “any man looking for a third term ought to be shot.”

[name_m]Roosevelt[/name_m], who suffered only a flesh wound from the attack, went on to deliver his scheduled speech with the bullet still in his body. After a few words, the former “Rough [name_m]Rider[/name_m]” pulled the torn and bloodstained manuscript from his breast pocket and declared, “You see, it takes more than one bullet to kill a Bull Moose.” He spoke for nearly an hour and then was rushed to the hospital.

Despite his vigorous campaign, [name_m]Roosevelt[/name_m], who served as the 26th U.S. president from 1901 to 1909, was defeated by Democrat [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] in [name_u]November[/name_u]. Shrank was deemed insane and committed to a mental hospital, where he died in 1943.

It’s an awesome name.

So, I really like the name [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] but really don’t care for [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. In my opinion it sounds goofy. I really like [name_u]Theo[/name_u] though!

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is awesome!! I also love [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Roosevelt[/name_m] and think it’s an awesome namesake. [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] is a cute nickname, but my favorite nickname is [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. It’s just sooo handsome!

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] sounds extremely soft to me. I always imagine a little boy playing quietly by himself…or an adult man reading a book in his office. I like the nickname [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] pretty well, but it is also quite gentle sounding.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]- but only as [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] or [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. I loathe the nicknames [name_m]Ted[/name_m] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] soo much that I had to demote [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] to a middle name status in fear that one day my future son would be called one of those nicknames.

[name_f]My[/name_f] reasons for loving [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]? Besides it being a strong, yet soft name, I love the meaning of the name. I love the book “[name_m]Little[/name_m] Women” and the character [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], and I also love Dr Seuss, whose first name was [name_m]Theodor[/name_m]. And my DH and I had a Dr Seuss quote on our wedding invites and on our wedding programs, so it’s just something that’s special to us too

I also think that [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] could be anyone. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] could be an athlete, he could be an academic, he could be an artist- the name suits anyone in whatever walk of life they choose. Some names seem to invoke certain responses, like it’s a really geeky name, or a jock name- but to me, [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is the boy next door name

As you can tell, I love the name [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]! [name_u]Austen[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is currently my number one boy’s combo and has been for a while

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is a great name! I prefer the nickname [name_u]Theo[/name_u] over [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], but [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] is cute. Keep it!

Thanks for all the responses in [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]'s favor, I had completely forgotten about [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] in [name_m]Little[/name_m] Woman, despite having read the book multiple times and loving it. Defiantly a good reason to add [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] to my list.

I have recently fallen in love with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] is too cute, although I prefer [name_u]Theo[/name_u]
