Is it too dated?
Could it possibly feel fresh again?
What are your general impressions of the name?
Any negative associations that put you off?
Compared to [name_f]Paola[/name_f] how do you feel about it?
I love the Spanish pronunciation of [name_f]Paula[/name_f] which to me sounds very fresh and sweet. Pow-lah (Pow like power, I don’t know how else to type that sound). The [name_f]English[/name_f] way however does feel a little bit dated to me. I don’t know why, it’s such a dumb thing really, might be the association to [name_f]Paula[/name_f] [name_u]Deen[/name_u].
Paola, I feel this is one of the names that I can never picture on an older person. I think it’s so sweet for a baby/toddler but I can’t imagine it on adults. [name_m]Even[/name_m] seeing my friends named [name_f]Paola[/name_f] now in their mid 20s feels very odd, specially when they’re referred to by their title like teacher, accountant, etc
I do find it pretty dated. It doesn’t feel fresh yet to me. I do adore [name_f]Paulina[/name_f], though! [name_f]Paola[/name_f] feels slightly fresher and packs more of a punch, but not by much ([name_f]Paula[/name_f] is very mid-century to me, [name_f]Paola[/name_f] is very 80s to me).
I know a baby girl born a few months ago named [name_f]Paola[/name_f], so by association that version does seem much more fresh (and I just like the sound of it better, probably because I don’t really like [name_m]Paul[/name_m]). that being said, [name_f]Paula[/name_f] is short and has the -la ending, which I think adds to its appeal as a modern day name. I would definitely pair it with something current; [name_f]Paula[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] comes to mind
Paula feels super dated to me (I’m in the US) and I have VERY negative associations with [name_f]Paola[/name_f] so that is nms either.
I think a [name_f]Paula[/name_f]/Pauline/Paulina nicknamed [name_f]Polly[/name_f] or [name_m]Pauly[/name_m] is super cute tho. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the P initial!
I love the name [name_f]Paula[/name_f], all the ones I’ve ever known have been sweet. I feel like you can’t really pull off [name_f]Paola[/name_f] unless you’re like Italian or Spanish. There’s a lilt to that name that most people can’t get right without an accent. Not always but that’s my opinion.
I like it! [name_f]My[/name_f] coworker is named [name_f]Paula[/name_f] (she’s much older than me and a grandmother lol) but she’s so nice so I started to like the name! I also like [name_f]Paulina[/name_f] and [name_m]Paulie[/name_m].
It is slightly dated, like ‘patricia’ but that makes it unique to use now while still being familiar. I like it, especially paired with a trendier middle name
Having worked with a [name_f]Paola[/name_f] and a [name_f]Paula[/name_f] in a very small workplace (6 people). It was sometimes so difficult to tell them apart when you mentioned either of them as the sound is almost identical in Spanish. It was a constant PaOla or PaUla?
Feels dated to me, and that’s coming from someone who loves names like [name_f]Laura[/name_f], [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], [name_f]Carrie[/name_f], [name_f]Amy[/name_f], etc. [name_f]My[/name_f] only association is [name_f]Paula[/name_f] [name_u]Dean[/name_u], a sweet southern lady with a cooking show.
I think [name_f]Paula[/name_f] is a beautiful name. I have never heard of a [name_f]Paula[/name_f],. [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter did have have a friend [name_f]Pauline[/name_f].
