I’m expecting baby #3 and am needing some input on the name [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. It’s a family name that has some special meaning to me, and I was shocked when my husband said he LOVED it! However, I still have a few reservations. I worry most people will think of olives literally. We have an older son who is [name_m]Kael[/name_m], is this too much of a food-type theme?? Does it fit with the sib set (siblings are [name_m]Kael[/name_m] and [name_f]Ayla[/name_f])? Nicknames would be [name_f]Liv[/name_f] or [name_f]Livie[/name_f].
Honestly, yes, all I think of are little green and black olives. It definitely wouldn’t work in an Italian family like mine, but maybe for you… But what about [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Livia[/name_f], or just [name_f]Liv[/name_f]? I do think the food thing might be noticeable, having a son named [name_m]Kael[/name_m] and his sister named [name_f]Olive[/name_f]…
Sorry:/ I hate to negate someone’s favorite! I would like to remind you that it doesn’t matter what I think or what anyone else thinks. You should use the name you love.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] is somehow elegant, spunky, and sweet all at the same time. I think it’s a lovely name and I don’t personally think of olives when I hear it…
That said, when it’s paired with [name_m]Kael[/name_m], the food association does emerge, unfortunately.
However, I don’t see it as a dealbreaker. If it were me, I would use [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and commit to nickname [name_f]Liv[/name_f] or [name_f]Livie[/name_f]. She may want to go as [name_f]Olive[/name_f] someday, but I don’t see it as a HUGE deal. Especially if you love the name and it has special meaning to you.
Ohhhhh I love [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. I think it’s fine with your son’s name. People will have their own associations with any name really. You have to go with the name you love especially if it has special meaning to you. It’s a beautiful name… [name_f]Olive[/name_f] branch, the symbol of peace…
