I love the name [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]. It has been on my list for over a year now. I’m just wondering what you guys think about it. [name_m]General[/name_m] feelings, what a [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] would look like, the vibe it gives you, all that stuff. Nicknames, sibling names, all is appreciated. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it is going to dramatically rise in popularity due to the Divergent movie (I loved the book so the association doesn’t bother me, but I would hate for him to be one of 3 kids named [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] in his class), like [name_f]Bella[/name_f] did with Twilight?
Thanks
HTB
I think [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is a great name. [name_f]Every[/name_f] time I hear it, I think “[name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_m]Wolf[/name_m]” though, which is irritating because I don’t even know what that’s from. Probably a book I read as a kid lol
I think the nn I’d be most likely to use would be [name_u]Toby[/name_u].
I like [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] due to the Divergent books. This doesn’t mean that I would ever use it, because it still isn’t my cup of tea, it just means that I see the name in a favorable light now. Idk if Divergent will affect the popularity.
I also think of the supporting character from NCIS.
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_m]Wolff[/name_m] is a well known American author. Many know him for his acclaimed memoir (made into a movie) “This Boy’s LIfe”. I think of him too when I think of the name [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], which isn’t a bad association at all.
I imagine [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] as a intelligent and bright-eyed type who has a strong working knowledge of nature, easily immersed in projects and the outdoors, but also scholarly.
I’m not familiar with Divergent, so can’t say much about that!
[name_u]Toby[/name_u] is a cute nickname though I would use [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] 90% of the time. Guess he could also go by [name_m]Obi[/name_m], which might appeal to star wars fans!

There is also the lesser known [name_m]Tobiah[/name_m], which I’m really liking.
I have a cousin [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] who goes by [name_u]Toby[/name_u]. It’s a lovely name.
Sorry, but the only male name I detest more than [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is [name_u]Toby[/name_u] (which I’ve always associated w/infections of the foot, to put it politely). I’ve had a strong negative reflex against the name since I was a child watching a movie about a circus kid by the name–just ick! [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is better than the nn, but still puts me in mind of barefoot hillbillies at a snake-handling sermon. I promise to have a more positive response to any other names you choose!
I like it, my brother’s name.
I like [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]. [name_u]Toby[/name_u] is a cute nn for a boy and [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is a strong name for a man.

I know a [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] – he’s a fun outdoorsy kind of kid. His family doesn’t like the nn [name_u]Toby[/name_u], though.
Also, a friend of mine recently named their son Toban, nn [name_u]Toby[/name_u]. I think the original spelling would be [name_m]Tobin[/name_m], but I like how the “an” ending gives it a more rounded out feel. [name_m]Tobiah[/name_m] is also great. I like them all!
I really like the name [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], and Divergent did introduce the name to me! [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is currently ranked 516 (U.S.) and it is expected to rise, however I don’t believe it will become immensely popular (I am guessing it will ranked in the 100s-300s). I picture a boy with brown hair and green eyes. He is very smart and he loves to read.
