I’ve recently discovered the name [name_u]Zuri[/name_u]. I’ve been researching it a little, but not much comes up!
I’m wondering what kind of vibe [name_u]Zuri[/name_u] gives. If you met a little [name_u]Zuri[/name_u] in real life, do you think you’d like it? Give me all your thoughts!
I really love the name [name_u]Zuri[/name_u]. My only concern would be whether it would feel culturally appropriate to use it, since it’s an African name and we live in a time of heightened sensitivity to potential issues surrounding that.
If I didn’t know anything about the name, it would strike me as a celebrity name (in a good way), like [name_f]Suri[/name_f] or Zuma.
I know nothing about the name, but I think it sounds cool and quirky. I like how it’s short and spunky like [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], but much more unique.
I don’t get the concern with appropriation. It’s 2018. A lot of countries are a mixture of cultures and all that entails. Saying you can’t use a name or a hairstyle from [name_f]Africa[/name_f] is like saying you can’t eat Mexican food if you’re not Mexican or you can’t own a chihuahua if you’re not Mexican.
[name_u]Zuri[/name_u] makes me think of [name_f]Missouri[/name_f] because has the “[name_u]Zuri[/name_u]” sound in it. I’m on the fence in regards to the name.
I know of a [name_u]Zuri[/name_u], though I don’t know if she spells it [name_u]Zuri[/name_u] or [name_m]Juri[/name_m]. It’s a quite uncommon name in my country, but definitely found in real life. It also means the name’s origin is not only [name_f]Africa[/name_f], so I think any race can have this name! I find it rather cute.
There was a character named [name_u]Zuri[/name_u] on the tv show [name_u]Jessie[/name_u]!
The name makes me think of a sweet, spunky girl. (Though, I agree with other posters, I’m not entirely sure how appropriate it is to use if you’re not a part of that culture. I dont think I’m the correct person to say whether it is or isnt, either! [name_m]Just[/name_m] something to keep in mind. Still a very pretty name, though.)
