What are people’s thoughts on the name [name]Tate[/name]? I have been thinking about it for a while now and I like that it is short and unusual/uncommon (at least where I live it is, and I have never known anyone named [name]Tate[/name]), but I am concerned that it has the feel of a passing fad or that it might be a bit too trendy… Any feedback would be appreciated!
[name]Tate[/name] is a cute name and I think that it will stand well on its own. If you want a longer name for a first name you could use [name]Tatum[/name] and use [name]Tate[/name] as a nickname. [name]Tate[/name] would make an adorable middle name too (love the name [name]Henry[/name] [name]Tate[/name]!). It is a little on the trendy side but I don’t think it will be a problem. It’s not a name that has been overused.
I too loved the name [name]Tate[/name] and was considering it for my own little one ([name]Tate[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] to be exact) The only problem, every time I brought it up the with a male (one brother, one co-worker and a friend’s hubby) their first reaction was “Taint? Oh that’s a great name!”
I had to look it up and that is not a very nice word or nickname. I hate to listen to the immature guys in my life but I have sadly taken [name]Tate[/name] off my list…don’t know if you will have the same problem, but thought I would share my experience.
I think [name]Tate[/name] is totally awesome, forget the people who say stupid things like taint, it is like the people who think it is funny to call me maggot instead of [name]Margot[/name].
[name]Tate[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] is very handsome.
rollo
When I hear [name]Tate[/name] is reminds me of [name]Aiden[/name]'s son on Sex and the City (i think?) I like it as a middle - [name]Henry[/name] [name]Tate[/name] is a great idea!
I absolutely adore [name]Tate[/name] And yes [name]Aiden[/name] did name his son [name]Tate[/name] on STC
BUt I think it is a such a good, strong, name that works really well on little boys and grown men! I would love to use it one day but dh is not a fan
I recently had some luck getting him to consider Truett which is similar to [name]Tate[/name]… [name]Tate[/name] is a great name I say USE IT!!
I love the name [name]Tate[/name] but I’m a bit biased as that’s what I named my son. We’ve never run into ANYONE ever saying “taint”, but we have lots and lots of people comment on how much they like his name. We chose his name because of its meaning “happy” and because as you’ve said, it’s not commonly heard but it’s familiar enough to people. I’ve never regretted choosing this name for my son.
My mom calls me [name]Tate[/name] as a nickname for [name]Katherine[/name], and an alternative for [name]Kate[/name], which I usually go by.
I really have started to like it as a real name, though!
I’m thinking about going by [name]Tate[/name] when I’m older.
lol My dog’s name is [name]Tate[/name]. After the [name]Tate[/name] museum in [name]London[/name].
It’s alright, I would go with a longer name like [name]Tatum[/name] and use the nn [name]Tate[/name].
[name]Tate[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] is amazing!! I have 3 sons and strongly considered [name]Tate[/name] for my third. I wanted something short, strong, unusual but cool. I love [name]Tate[/name] on a cute little boy and handsome on a grown man. I think it pairs best with a longer middle name. I adore the name and fits in with all the jack, cole, sam, max. types.
I like it–(even though I also know a dog named [name]Tate[/name], lol!)
I knew a [name]Tate[/name] in high school–he’s probably about 26 now. When I found out that was his name, I was surprised that it wasn’t a nickname, but rather is given name. For me, it’s too short for a given name. And because of the high school association it always reminds me of wealthy families.
I’m thinking of using [name]Tate[/name] as a MN. I have trouble coming up with MNs for boys, I love it because it goes with most of my favourites and it’s a variation of my last name!
