Any opinions on the name Tattie? I find it really pretty for some reason.
I don’t really like it unless it’s a nickname for something longer, like [name]Tatiana[/name]. Tattie sounds incomplete to me.
A Tattie to me, is a Tattoo. [name]Just[/name] sayin… Agreed with previous poster, maybe if it was a nn for something else, but not a full name itself
I think of potatoes. In [name]Scotland[/name], ‘tatties and neeps’ = potatoes and turnips.
I like it as a nickname for [name]Tatiana[/name] only. I don’t think Tattie has enough substance to make a complete first name. It’s cute as a nickname though!
I just think of the adjective (dictionary definition follows):
- Worn and shabby; in poor condition: “the room was furnished in slightly tatty upholstered furniture”.
- Of poor quality: “his gap-toothed smile and tatty haircut”
It’s in (very) common parlance in the UK, Australia, and NZ, I would have thought the US too? Perhaps not. But not a nice name to saddle a child with, if I’m honest.
Yeah, tatters came to my mind first. (phia, in the US I think we would use “ratty.” But both are pretty close to tatty.)
[name]How[/name] about [name]Thandie[/name]? I’ve always thought that was a cute name. Some people find it a little nickname-y, but I like it.
I like [name]Tansy[/name], which is a sweet and simple flower name but I do think Tattie = Tatty, ragged and worn.
I’m not a fan, sorry. It reminds me of tattered and torn, and I like [name]Lottie[/name], [name]Lettie[/name], [name]Hattie[/name], [name]Etta[/name], etc. more. [name]Tatiana[/name] nn Tattie could be cute, though.
Good luck!
